Good morning and Happy Friday everyone!

I was looking into picking up a Stinger GT AWD but I had a few concerns, especially in terms of overall costs to run the car. I tend to drive anywhere from 15k - 20k miles a year and I've seen people here say they've had to replace their tires as early as 10k miles with normal driving. I know the GT has a staggered setup and can't do the normal tire rotations but changing high performance tires every 10k miles or so does seem pricey. If this is not normal, would the wheel/tire protection warranty cover premature wear on the tires?

Another concern would be the brakes as numerous users posted that they've been warping their rotors. How often does this occur and is it a lot more expensive to change due to it being set up by Brembo?

Lastly, how's the clearance on these cars, especially with 3 passengers? I live in the Philly area that has trolley tracks with horrible gaps in between and travel to NYC often where every manhole/drain cover is a pothole in itself.

I have the AWD GT, so it came with a square tire setup, so I can rotate my tires normally. Rear wheel drive comes with staggered setup. You also live in the north east, so your car will most likely be this way also. I belive all AWD stingers in snow regions are sold this way.

I did need tires at 15,000 miles. However, I had uneven tire wear and I believe the car was misaligned from the factory. If not for that. they probably would have lasted 20k miles or so. A new set of Continental Purecontact LS all season tires cost me about $800 after tax and mount/balance, but most people are claiming 30k-50k miles on them . Time will tell. More performance oriented tires will have a shorter lifespan, and probably cost more.

My brakes have been great. At 24k miles, I'm nowhere near needing brakes. A lot of the "warped rotor" issues are not actually warped rotors at all. there are a few threads on here about that.

the clearance isn't bad. I've never scraped my car in 16 months of ownership. I am careful, but I've never had an issue. Honestly, the car would benefit from being lowered, which a lot of people do, but then there would be a few places I simply could not go. A driveway with a steep approach angle for example. The car seems, in my experience, to be just high enough to clear just about anything you need.

Get a stinger. You wont regret it. It's a performance oriented car, so it will cost a little more to own than a camry, but its worth every penny.

Does the square setup come with 19 inch rims or is it only 18's? I do remember seeing both 18's and 19's on the AWD GT's here but thought the 19's were staggered. I might be mistaken.

I might just ask the dealer to verify the alignment is correct when purchasing so that if it does have uneven wear, at least I have it on record. Will definitely keep this in mind.

Good to hear the clearance is good, gives me the piece of mind when driving around with people in the back. My '17 Maxima didn't fair too well when I had passengers in the back lol.

Yeah I completely understand and also expect to pay a bit more in the upkeep of this car compared to other mainstream cars on the road.

I have a 2019 model and it came with 18" wheels, which I like because you're less prone to damaging your wheels on these great Pennsylvania roads. I may be wrong, but I think they changed to 19" wheels on all models, even the square setup AWD models, for the 2020 model year. I don't believe any AWD models come with staggered setups, but again, I could be wrong
 
I don't know about staggered from 2020, but they do come with 19" wheels. All GT trims.

Clearance: stock clearance is low enough! Appearances are for "purists". I think the stock car looks terrific, i.e. low enough. And it is practical. Now, if you stuff three large people in the back, just drive gingerly, okay? I've never bottomed out except going directly over a driveable curb; took my drain plug right off and dented my battery box. Lesson learned: angle over driveable curbs.

You will get a lot more than 10K miles out of Michelin PS4(S) tires if you don't corner like a demon and launch from stop lights all the time. :p I got 18K plus out of my OE rear tires and 22K plus out of my front tires; this including some "hooning", especially toward the end of the life of the front tires.

So far, I have experienced no extra costs beyond normal maintenance. The "Biggie" was at c. 30K miles (a "Service 4", if you use Canadian nomenclature) and cost well over $700. But those are only due every c. 30K miles, as near as I can tell. Mostly you'll do regular maintenance/oil changes w/filter, every c. 3K to 6K miles at a cost of c. fifty bucks. And c. $210 and $300 for Service 2 and 3 in between.

Brakes: mine have stayed fine and checked out "good" at my "Service 4" maintenance a couple thousand miles ago; I have almost 34K miles. Although you hear often about "warped" rotors, these are actually pad deposits and can be addressed through aftermarket replacement of pads and/or rotors. But, odds are that your car will be fine, i.e. most Stingers do not have "lumpy" brakes. (Most brake discussions on the forum are, of course, about brake issues, so, it looks like a majority of Stingers have brake issues.)

From a perspective of German car ownership the cost of owning the Stinger is nothing, my last maintenance fee for my Porsche 981 was 4000 dollars, so if you look it that way maintenance and brake job for a stinger is a joke, I pre paid maintenance on my stinger for 5 years and paid 1500 including everything except tires and brakes.

2019 GT Limited AWD here. Staggered setup. 12250 km 80% tread remains (had them checked yesterday). Tires not a concern! The rotors don’t warp! There is a great write up on it in another thread, look for it. Read it.:thumbup:
