• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Had my Stinger for a week and since owning am yet to see another on the road (had seen 2 prior to owning). Yes I'm in Perth and sales likely low in volume, especially with the supply shortage.
I see the US had 1000 sales in January any ideas for aus?

If population figures are any indicator, 70 sales in Jan. Yes, a very simplistic estimate:)

I do like this driving a car you don't see around every corner, any corner actually:thumbup:

Exactly why i decided to buy one, considered a Commodore SS LS3 V8, but i don't want to live with a gas guzzling V8 everyday, and they are so common, most people do not even take notice of them. Yesterday i visited a Kia dealership with a Ceramic Grey and a Hi Chroma Red in the showroom, the salesman said to me, i could have one tomorrow if you like, but im waiting for my Deep Chroma Blue:).

Kia AU was estimating 200/month for the first year then 500/month after stock becomes more readally available. I asked my local dealer the other day & they sold 4 in January which seems ok if you multiply that with the number of dealers nationally your estimate of 70 in Jan. is more than achievable.

Hi Dave,

I'm also in Perth and after two months of driving my GT I only spotted another Stinger for the first time this week.

I'm with DCBStingerGT on this one in that I hope it takes a long time for production capacity to increase and we see The Stinger become just another car on the road like the Mustang that is now any every day sight.

So as much as the wait to get the car can be quite painful with limited production available to OZ its worth it once you have the car for the anonymity/exclusivity. Also we are the early adopters that appreciate the cars true value and I'm not convinced that even if they could increase production from the current 200 to 500 for Oz tomorrow that there would be enough people out there that really understand what this car is about. I think it would just result in excess stock and heavy discounting, again something that we dont want to see.

PS. Make sure you change to the Korean badges outside the car as that's a lot of fun to keep people guessing and just keep the KIA badge on the steering wheel for those that dont believe they could have built it.

Now that the new ZB Commodore is at Holden Dealers, I believe the Holden faithful (me being one & converted Stinger owner) will go & inspect & come away disappointed. The Stinger offers so much more for $$$ compared to the Commodore that the trickle affect will start & then the mainstream will follow after everyone gets a first hand look & feel for the Stinger.
Just remember all, we are the trickle effect.

Im in South West Sydney and have seen 1 in about 3 months I've had mine for 2 days and still to see another one. Apparently stock is really low that's why there hasn't been a big ad campaign was supposed to happen during the tennis but they held off for some reason.

So what did you get, colour etc? Welcome to the club

I originally ordered white with red interior. Wife and son hated the red convinced me to go the blue with black, it's my car not the family car so they didn't care either way. Very happy with the blue now.

Got the exhaust and tints thru the dealership.

The dealer had an after market exhaust which sounded amazing but it's operated thru a fob (like a garage door remote) which to me is ridiculous.

As it's the first iteration of the car I think you want to get all after market equipment thru Kia just to sleep easy at night as to not have any warranty issues.

Yourself?

Looks awesome, I want to change the badges but don't trust myself. Saw YouTube videos that looked simple how hard was it?

I Agree, with you completely @Stinger GT SS, been a Holden enthusiast most of my life, i worked for Holden for 12 years, and have a lifetime discount, and yet i still went with my heart, and not my wallet. I don't want FWD and i have no need for AWD, i would be happy with a 235kw V6, and could of saved some money between my Stinger GT and a ZB Commodore VXR, but im sure we all agree, once you have seen a ZB Commodore either on the road or in the showroom, it doesn't turn your head, no way near how the Stinger will turn heads.

For me it was simple, but you need to think it through & preparation is everything before you start. I used hot days 40+ to for badge removal, with not use heat guns or hairdryers on new fresh paintwork it could end in tears. If not ask your dealer, they have detailers that do this stuff to cars all the time.

Absolutely spot on GM NA killed Holden, Opel deal is a dead duck, once deal was done GMNA sold Opel to PSA Group who has no intention of improving the performance of a car they see as a small market, Kia built the Stinger for the world & offers different specs to suit most wallets, this is a no brainer....GM & Ford have totally lost the plot.

The KIA is the car to beat. Nothing compares at that price point. The rest have nothing to complete with the Stinger literally has everything. I was going C43 AMG or the Audi S5 till my mate said go test drive the Stinger. I cancelled my order on the S5 best thing I ever did and saved myself $50k in the process.

Before Stinger showed up i was considering a pre-owned BMW 640i or preferably a 640d in Deep Sea Blue with Ivory White interior, but then i saw Stinger and that Deep Chroma Blue, i was Strung, would have liked the Beige interior, but not available in Australia. The truth is even the BMW 6 series really goes unnoticed on the road, doesn't turn heads.

Did you go with the E or K?
I’ve thought about badges but the thought of peeling/ prying them off I’m just not comfortable doing

Not a fan of BMW test drove the M2 and M3 and just felted dated on the inside.

We did get the raw end of the stingers released by far, Canada got the best options. I wanted the phone link app so you can start the car remotely!

Yes that would have been a nice feature. One feature I’m glad we didn’t get was the engine stop/start. Had that on previous car Audi A3, first button I pushed (off) every time I drove

Yeah for sure that's a horrible feature had it on a GTI i had it annoyed the hell out of me. I do really like the auto hold feature!

Just drove at night for the first time, the headlights are trippy... Will need to get used to the turning lights with the steering.

Definitely E badges as they are original to the Stinger....albeit in Korea only. I think they just look cooler in the flesh as I purchased both types.

I did the installation myself and just took my time. My handyman skills are average at best but found as long as you are prepared and follow a process it's not that hard. There were no Stinger specific badge changing instructions or videos available at the time when I did mine so I created this how to guide from collating the advice shared on this forum and took some photos. Combined with this recent how to video from a guy in the U.S you should have all the guidance you need:
