3.3TT Quicksilver Exhaust Systems

What am I talking about? Watch the video from both manufacturers. Quicksilver has downpipes+cat back for the video which consists mostly if a guy talking and not actually hearing the car. The mbrp is only cat back for the sound and compares stock to theirs. Personally and most people would agree the mbrp sounds better based on the 2 videos. So don't tell me I haven't done my research. Also, replacement of the catalytic converters can void your warranty. I understand they don't have sensors but if they want to be jerks they can. I emailed the service manager at my kia dealership and they told me cat back and intakes will not void warranty besides on the part itself. They said removing catalytic converters or tune would void the power train.

I have three friends who have the MBRP currently or have had it, and they all agree that the Quicksilver gives a better all around sound than MBRP. One sold his, to actually, one of the other one's that like the Quicksilver better. The Quicksilver I would explain, is more of an, on demand kind of sound. As opposed to being loud all the time

Really wish they made an AWD version of the secondary downpipes. I would VERY seriously consider swapping out my ARKs for these to pair with my MBRP, I bet it would sound better that way.
I asked. They’ll be ready in the summer. I also asked if I could preorder. Haven’t gotten a reply on that one.

Please let me know what they say. I would love to snag one of those for the same price as if I was to order with the discount others are using.

So anyone who has already installed... my passenger side muffler is not lining up with the OEM exhaust tips... Did you have the same problem? Did you fix it? And how...?

The driver side seems shorter than I was expecting as well...

TIA

install muffler assembly, install flange but do not tighten, slide passenger muffler back til tailpipes enter tips, tighten band clamp

I almost did the same thing, looked up and saw tailpipes were way short of tips, so pushed everything back a few inches

I had the same issue. I ended up modifying the bend in the exhaust. It turns out the angle of the flange was slightly off. The passenger muffler was significantly off the more you tightened the flange the worse it was. The whole system wants to float to the passenger side. We ended up bending both sides for perfect fitment.

I am not happy about this.

ruffstuff.. go to home depot get yourself a little map gas butane torch setup.. heat up the just the side of the flange joint that you want it to to pull towards.. and let it cool. it will straighten. stainless steel pulls and shrinks a lot from heat.

You first!

It must sound way better in person because I haven’t been impressed with any of the videos. It sounds too quiet for me.

I have zero Stingers to compare in person here. But in the few hours I've had mine, quiet is not on the menu.

Just making sure I understand what you're saying...

So you don't have to even try and bend the pipe at all, just heat the section/side that you want it to angle towards, and it will pull itself in that direction after cooling down?

I'm convinced that videos are both bad at conveying exhaust note, and impossible to compare from brand to brand. There's so many variables in microphone quality, demonstration conditions, car setup, sound mixing, speakers...

These video clips rarely ever do exhaust notes justice, just like how even professional footage of race cars doesn't really capture just how loud and rich their sounds are without a great sound system for the listener. For that reason I always take them with a huge grain of salt. It's probably more important to look past whatever clips are out there for any of these exhausts and just go for the kits that have the best quality you can afford in terms of design, fitment, and performance specs. Or to try and hear what you want to hear in person before judging.

Hearing it in person is for sure best but I likely won’t get that opportunity here. You also can’t totally dismiss the video/audio clips. I can clearly hear differences when I listen to the various exhaust notes from these clips. Just as I can with Borla, Ark, etc. What’s more the unknown is usually fitment, rasp and drone.

I’d be upset too. For what they charge for these systems, you shouldn’t have to modify them at all to get it to fit.

I didn't say you should dismiss them totally, just that they should be considered in context. What you're saying you can hear is kind of my whole point, we can hear differences from clip to clip of course, and you might be able to tell that something sounds like crap to you or sounds really good, but you really have no idea how much of that is the real exhaust note you can expect once it's installed on your car, and how much of that is due to the many other variables at play. The only way to really reduce that uncertainty would be to gather all the exhausts together with the same recording setup and the same car setup, and have them do a bunch of identical passes. But then again, what good would that be if you're listening through a cell phone speaker? See what I mean?
