I'm probably missing some of the cool features the Stinger will have but here are at least a few:

Driver Attention Alert system
Lane Keep Assist
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Head-Up Display
Blind Spot Detection
Forward Collision Assistance with integrated Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection

Can anyone take a guess at how these features may be set into separate packages? I'm looking at buying the 2.0 turbo without AWD. I'm hoping to stay around $35,000 for the car but I imagine I'd probably need to spend closer to $40,000 if all these features. Do you think there will be a fairly economical package with just a few of these options? What are considered the more expensive options that I might not get in a lower tier package?

So, all purely speculative, but we can look at how Kia is applying their option packages to their other models. Kia & Hyundai never liked complicated options, and they tend to just lump everything into one or two packages. If I were to GUESS, I'd say you'll have:
1) a base model ($30~$33k)
2) a infotainment system that includes the rear view camera (base + $3k'ish)
3) essentially all the driving/safety assistance features you mentioned included in one "technology" package (+3k~$4k over #2)
4) possibly a premium package that includes the ventilated seats and HUD.

Again, they don't like a lot of choices on the order sheet, so figure 2 & 3 might be combined, or 3 & 4 might be. I recon a loaded non-GT Stinger would top out around $37k~$38k, using the Optima as my point of reference.

For the GT, my hope is fully loaded, no factory options to tick. I actually think there will be the Kia Stinger base model with various options including engine choice, and then the "GT" which if the fully loaded version, no holds barred, all bells and whistles, hero model. Although you may need to select interior colours and that may be dependent on exterior colour choice too.

I think it has been revealed already that an upgraded Harmon Kardon hifi system will be available and I hope that's all for the GT, see below (and yes I would tick it although I expect the GT to have this anyway). I don't really want to start seeing tech packs, safety packs, blah blah blah. That would devalue the GT option somewhat for me. I'd be happy to pay the set premium $$$ for everything!

Here's the presser;
The base audio system for the 2.0-liter turbo features six-speakers and a seven-inch haptic touchscreen with the latest version of UVO, Kia’s award-winning telematics systems. The standard system found in the 3.3-liter twin turbo ups the speaker count to nine and includes an external amplifier. The available premium Harman/Kardon®7 audio system pumps out 720 watts through an external amplifier to provide crystal-clear music. With 15 speakers and Kia’s first under-seat mounted subwoofers tucked beneath the driver and passenger seats, the system features Clari-Fi™8, a patented music restoration technology that rebuilds audio signals that are lost in the digital compression process. This technology returns a high-fidelity listening experience to any compressed digital source. The system also comes equipped with next-generation QuantumLogic™9 Surround Sound technology, which extracts signals from the original recording and redistributes them into an authentic, multidimensional soundstage for playback that is clear, refined and full of detail.

Okay. Well there's no denying this car isn't going to be economical for me. That tells me I'd better start saving now if I don't want a big monthly payment. I don't really need ventilated seats but I'd really like HUD. Though I can live without it. The other technology stuff I really want. I'm surely looking at nearly $40,000 for a 2.0 Stinger. Okay, that's fine. But I'm definitely stretching a bit for it.

the nice thing about it being a little on the expensive side is exclusivity. it probably won't be very exclusive for long but at least not everybody is going to have one. even though it seems everybody wants one.

Talking exclusivity ... bit of chatter about that some still can't get past the badge (KIA). So if that is true it might really be quite a unique position to own one. Others being put off by perhaps both brand and price. Unfortunately they'll likely be dismissing KIA's emerging engineering ingenuity, refined quality, some authentic innovations and in this particular case, driving passion. That's how I see it.

Exclusive?....well, only until until those "other people" catch on to a good thing.

Just remind yourself, Jenny; This is all speculation, and you don't *have* to get a loaded one. Manufacturers tend to structure the options as a way to goad you into paying as much as you absolutely can, but I think if you want to be thrifty you could definitely find features that you can live without. I know my Audi has several that aren't all I expected them to be; e.g. the radar cruise control, lane keeping, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, phone integration. These features seem desirable, but in practice they don't work as well as I'd hope and I'm sure I could live without them if I was trying to cut costs. I think you will be able to get one that'll make you happy for $35k.

Very true. Some people don't like the KIA badge. Some people won't like the price. Probably a lot of people won't like the combination of the two. So that leaves the car to potentially be somewhat exclusive for a long time. It took a while for the Genesis Coupe to catch on and now I see them everywhere. Those of us who become early adopters will likely see few and far between for a year or so.

I wonder how different the options packages will be between here in the U.S. and in South Korea. Because the Stinger has been launched in their domestic market so I wonder if we could get some package information from their website.

I also wonder if the South Korean version has a cover over the cupholders. I'm going to have to take a look for the official website.

I started looking on their site as soon as I heard it was ready for sale but I don't see any mention of the Stinger. :(
