NOS Stinger 650 hp from Tork Motorsports

I don't think NOS fits in to my #stealthlife policy. Although the tank would fit where the spare tire goes.....
I'll let others test this out first.

I still have my 150 shot set up I bought when I was going to work with Tork. I may need to get it on the car soon... lol After Motec.

I have questions...

Wet or dry? If dry, how are they getting the extra fuel in there? At what point along the intake is he spraying?

I really like the concept of n2o with boost. It should cool down the intake charge big time.

I'm in the camp of no NOS. It's cool and everything, and 650 hp is impressive, but I was hoping to see advancements in performance using other means. Or have we come to the point where it cannot be done on a Stinger without NOS?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Well, it really seems like we're all having issues with boost being the limiting factor with the factory turbos. To get above that ~450-500whp limit you need to remove that bottleneck. It can be done either with bigger turbos or liquid forced induction (ie nitrous). N2o is a lot easier than swapping turbos (IMO), that's for sure. I think the only scary thing is if/when you hit the rev-limiter... Does anyone know how the 3.3 limits revs? Is it just a fuel cut off, or does it also stop ignition? If only the former, then we could run into some scary detonation/backfiring up the intake manifold. Haha.

I don't know much about engines but I thought as you increase horsepower you also make adjustments to the other areas so that the 365 hp is maximized. Have we reached that limit where the 365 hp that the Stinger packs is just not enough?

It has to be wet. Our cars can't make 500 hp on stock fuel alone.

That's what I assumed.

I really want to see how that stinger does in the 1/4! Is it AWD?

RWD. His best slip is 11.71 so far with no brake snip and no wmi.

It's really quite the opposite: we've come so far in advancement in both automotive technology and aftermarket that NOS is a lot "safer" now and more intuitive/easier to install than ever before.

Just 10 years ago, I'd say NOS is risky. But adding NOS nowadays? Really no different than WMI (which has also come a long way), just different "risks" involved.

So to answer your question: of course there are other ways to get more power on a Stinger without NOS (namely, larger turbos), but there's no reason to dismiss NOS out of old-fashioned sentiments. It's a legitimate way to get more power the same as WMI, larger turbos, etc.

What we still haven't seen (yet?) is anyone actually upgrading the core engine components. There's still no one who has bored out the engine for larger displacement (though supposedly the next generation of this engine is already larger displacement at 3.5L) with new pistons for example.

Is the nos built into the stage 2 tune ? Or is it a separate tune altogether?

I'm biased, I admit! :D

Personally I'd like to see someone do something with the core components. BUT I'll try to keep an open mind. I'd really like to see, some day, the Stinger hitting 9's on the 1/4 so something has to give.

NOS is cool and all, but, like WMI, I really don't want to add something to my DD that I have to refill every few weeks in addition to mixing E85 + 91.. Plus, then I have to decide if *THIS* run is worth using up the NOS, etc..

For 1/4 mile times, sure.. I've been to one drag strip in my life, watched a few cars run, including an old 70s Camaro break out of his 7.4 bracket at 7.39 / 186 mph (he caught and passed the bike that was dialed in at 7.6 or 7.8).. Kinda cool, but not really my boat.. I'm more of a rally and/or track guy..

Erhm... If you're filling it every few weeks, you should probably just cut your lead foot off, lol

In all seriousness: just don't have any liquids filled until you're planning to go to the track. Fill them up, change tune mode, and off you go. And if you don't use it all up, just leave it. It's there if your lead foot grows back, and then you'll just have to amputate again once the reservoirs run dry

With WMI you can ditch the E85. So far WMI is slightly less annoying than using E85. My E85 is 20 miles away so i usually stock up in gas cans.
They are both a little annoying but you only use the WMI when you get on it where you are burning the E cruising.

I think the tune doesn't care about the NOS. Most the NOS tuning is how much NOS and when to bring it on.

I'm curious to see how this is paired with running Meth as well.

Doesn't JB4 have the capability to monitor/adjust N20? Whether somebody is running an ecu tune or not, using a JB4 to integrate WMI/N20 seems like a nice option now.

Thing with NOS wear and tear aside is you're going to spend $40-50 to fill a 10# bottle and you'll only get around 45-60 seconds of racing out of that bottle. The money adds up quickly. It's good for setting records or racing once a year but not economical beyond that.

Yes the JB4 has N20 control, although not enabled for the Stinger yet. A lot of BMW guys run it.
