So I was just quoted $900+ for the Remote Start from the dealer. Apparently, the Remote Start for the Stinger is $200 more then it is for other KIA's, +$300(ish) for labor. I think I paid $450. for my Optima about 4 months after I bought it new. That was including labor. WTH? Why such a HUGE price jump??

What did you pay to have the dealer install in the US?

Tell the dealer to go to hell. The Kia wesite shows it as an option for 495. I wouldn't pay a penny more than that.

That is the price of the Remote Start. The installation labor is what drove it up to $900.

The way I read the website is labor is included in the 495. Maybe that's only if you include it in the purchase? For 900 there are WAY better 3rd party options. IMO for 495 there are way better 3rd party options. Especially since the one Kia sells is a 3rd party solution.

Are you sure it is a 3rd Party Remote Start? I was told it was genuine KIA. Plus I have had the dealer install Remote Start on 2 other cars - a 2012 Forte, and my 2014 Optima, and they were both genuine KIA.

I only ask because it was quite a bit higher then I expected. I have really nothing bad to say about my dealer. they have always treated me and my cars well. I was just really surprised at the price and wanted to hear what others may have paid.

Thanks though, I really appreciate your input. :)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I am as sure as I can be. When I went in to get it for my optima I saw the box it came in. I then googled it and saw the exact same thing from some generic company. (For around 100 bucks)
I ended up going 3rd party.... Cheaper and way better options..

Amazing how these dealers have no shame in blatantly trying to rip people off. My remote start was $495. Everything included.

Complaints about the way dealers are treating customers (especially being so inflexible with prices and marking up parts/extras) have been such a common thread on these forums. Country of origin seems to make no difference as it is happening in Oz also. If the Stinger is Kia's attempt to change its place in the auto market, by bringing out a quality product - it will all be for nothing if the dealers continue to treat customers like crap. It is no wonder that changing badges seems to be the first order of business when the cars are collected. I hope the Kia bosses are taking note!
