The Kia Stinger Killer Calendar Competition

My favorite is October, my Bday month and a Silky Silver (I think; darker looking in the shade?). It's an odd one: looks to be a Base Stinger, but with dark chrome on it: could be the effect of being in the shade, I suppose.

Anyway. My positive feedback includes: good paper stock/quality; mostly good/interesting pictures; it's a Kia Stinger calendar exclusive. My criticisms are: picture resolution is mediocre to poor on most of them, they are pixelated in the linear way; not enough variation in car colors (I know, "most likes"; but that should have been coupled with "next most likes of a varying color from colors already chosen", imho); it should be bigger format, I was hoping for c. 14". Oh, one other thing; May, September and December Stingers got perforated for the coil binder. Bad call, imho. The subject should never be punched; I don't care how many "likes" the picture gets; it cheapens the whole calendar.

It's a nice five to ten buck calendar. So, as I already said, a bit steep (especially with shipping added on).

Next year's calendar, I hope, will be bigger, have all the available colors represented, and not be pixelated, i.e. the resolution of the submitted files must be a minimum MB size or be disqualified; most cellphone cameras these days will take c. 12MB size pictures; but I think 3 to 4 MB file size is a minimum that will not look pixelated when expanded to 14".

We could get started right now with the entries. I don't see any reason why not.
Perhaps you could take on the roll of Co-ordinator, Editor, Graphic Design, Printer, Marketing and Distribution.

I’m just greatful there was one.
Yep! Just starting early with the criticisms and suggestions to make the next one awesome.

Haha.

Hey, Sal said he tried twice to get the calendars to look the way he wanted; and even the second batch weren't up to par. He didn't provide any details. I'm guessing what I said agrees with at least some of what he was having issues with. This is the place to talk about that.

The problem was resolution. I'm probably going to need to host the images off-line. When I first started this site, I allowed high resolution images - but between the traffic those images got - and malicious users trying to bring down the server by accessing them thousands of times per second - server costs skyrocketed and the forum came to a crawl...

For our next calendar, I'll use an off-site image server and have a high minimum for image resolution. That was entirely the issue with this calendar. It looks good, but not professional. I tried a few tricks with Photoshop to help the low resolution images - but it didn't work as well as I had hoped...

Holy, crap. I never even think of such things. What a ridiculous place this world is, only because of the rascals living in it.

"Looks good" was good enough the first time.

Are you considering a 14" format for the 2020?

Thank you. I will definitely consider a 14" format for 2020. When all is said and done, I'd like to create one version that satisfies as many people as possible. I imagine a 14" version would be a popular choice...

Mine is still hanging at work annoying the Mustang owners. Job done.
