I would LOOOOVE it if I could get turn signals on the hud. Being a tall guy, the steering wheel blocks the blinker lights most of the time, and if I'm listening to music often times I can't tell if they're on without reaching for the lever.

Don't know if those are linked systems, but it'd sure be nice to have.

Welcome to the forums.

Have you tried adjusting your steering column upwards? I moved mine up a couple of inches and don’t have a problem seeing my turn signals.

Your missing the point.

The HUD is very underutilized for a “premium” feature.

No turn signals
No temp indicators
No boost
No current song playing (USB/BT)
No RPM / shift lights
No real customization.
Etc.

We know why. Cost. It isn’t a digital screen but positionally based / predetermined images that are projected. The only “variable” is nav street names

You're completely missing the point of a HUD IMHO.

The HUD was developed for fighter aircraft, to put highly important information in the eyeline of pilots at all times - to save them from having to go looking for critical information, and to only present what's absolutely critical, not overload them with trivia.

Some of the stuff you've mentioned just isn't important, and having it in the HUD would detract from the key reason it's there to start with.

Plus, showing all that would take up half the windshield.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
There's way too much info there IMHO. Might as well just project the entire dash up there and be done with it.

I don't know about the Stinger, but many autos in manual mode still change gears if outside the range it deems appropriate, so I'd like to see an indicator of what gear you're in. Or a manual gearbox lol.

First, thanks for the welcome! Second... yeah, It's just that I'm 6'4", so I have to move it a good bit higher than where it's most comfortable... Would just be nice to have as a option. Everything is so well thought out on the stinger, it's really the one quirk I have... That and the auto stop start

Would be awesome if it was an option, I agree! :)

When you get used to having that type of info from previous "Lux" brands you miss it , we arent driving fighter jets , the objective of keeping your eyes on the road is the key issue here , you dont have perspective on this obviously , and you likely would have a different POV if you had experience ................it's a new world beyond Subs and Mits , and its the new territory Kia is charting ........................ ! :)

5'9" myself and can't see the dang things from my prefered seat position either. But don't particularly care.

I like what BMW is saying about working on augmented reality - overlaying spatially correct visual navigation cues onto the 'real world' view out the windshield. Likely will require eyeball tracking to make sure everything aligns, but that's currently available technology. I suspect that augmented reality overlays are going to be the norm in a few years time.

For now, I'm happy with what I've got - but displaying signal light indicators in the HUD would be a very useful addition, as I have a tall torso and my indicators in the Stinger are also blocked by my 'optimum' steering wheel position for driving. My 1963 vintage GM car had signal light indicators out on the tips of the front fenders way back then - having them visible while your gaze is 'outside the cabin' was a really nice feature to have, and a definite safety bonus.

Deep insight based on your thorough Stinger gt2 ownership.

Thanks.

Yes, you're right.

Because I don't yet own a Stinger, I can't possibly have an opinion on what BMW put into their HUD. And of course, I haven't driven several Stingers, and can't be familiar with what the Stinger HUD displays. And I can't possibly have driven other cars with a HUD. Or have an opinion on driver interface issues, or experienced a HUD in a fighter jet (a BAE Hawk trainer, for what it's worth, when I was fortunate enough to experience one in the UK with the RAF).

Let's not get into the fact that the Stinger GT has the HUD in the local market. I guess none of the Aussies are qualified to talk about the HUD then, given the GT2 isn't a thing here.

As a pilot and Stinger owner i can tell you that if you put too much information into a small HUD it just confuses the user with too much info. You also can miss information due to the clutter. Existing format is more than sufficient for a good driver. If you want a BMW HUD then buy a BMW.

C'mon guys, Manaz might not own his Stinger yet but he is very knowledgeable in lots of areas and very mechanically minded. He has given lots of good advise to other forum members.Lets not disintegrate this thread any further.

Jeez, what’s going on here, a guy expresses an opinion on a “Forum” & is attacked & belittled for “his point of view”
Way to be civil guys, its becoming clear to me where all the arrogance is coming from.
This used to be an enjoyable forum but my enthusiasm has waned over the last few months, I have also noted the absence & lack of input from other early members that don’t seem to contribute anymore.
Just my opinion here too.....:(

I still have those words ringing I'm my ears from the "Panthers" meet up when the former Nissan forum moderator told me "You wait and see your new Stinger forum implode when it starts to get personal". He said give it 2-3 years. I left out some of the key points he indicated, I did this for civility reasons.

His forum with 7000 members he tells me is no more.
