• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

Looks legit unless you are expecting free. US is $145 so the conversion is about right for CAD.
Alright then, thought I saw free on an Australian site...

FYI; It works successfully when loaded on a fresh new SD card (16gb). It even updated fine while driving.
(My orig Kia SD map card is in the glovebox, as a spare map)

In the middle of all the media buttons in centre of dash - the black cap labelled SD Map. Get your nail behind righthand edge and pull. SD card will be behind this.

In the dash where it says SD card , lift up the tab and remove the card. I strongly recommend you let dealer do it.
Why? It is very easy and Kia recommend to do it yourself. It's the whole reason why they have the website and provide easy to follow instructions.

The dealer needs access and if you register your vin then he can’t get the downloads.

I wouldn't go dealer just for a map update so much easier to DIY.

It's pretty easy to do it yourself, I had my 3000km service the other day the dealer didn't have a clue about the map update or the update web site, I guess it comes down to the quality of the dealer. The service manager is a good bloke but the kids in the service centre couldn't tie shoe laces properly I'm sure.

Register on the WEB site.
Download and run the SUM application.
SD card in PC (will format the card so I just bought a new one for $9.98 from officeworks) Keep the original as a spare.
Software downloads via SUM application to card.
Optional - Take a copy of the card as is before you use it in the car.
Put card in car.
Turn on ignition follow prompts on screen.
Easy as.

You can backup the content on the card before the update in the car, and use the same code base from the card on any other 16GB SD card to update as many cars as you like. Just need one card per car.
There is absolutely no security associated with the card/code base or VIN number.
But once you use the card to update a car, it cannot update another car.

I had my car at the dealership yesterday to replace the AV module. I asked about the satnav update, and they said “we’ll check for any new updates”.
When I picked my car up, I asked if they updated my satnav and they said that I already have the latest version available.
I bought my car in late August 2018, and have never update my satnav.

I think there have been 2 updates since you purchased. Here's the latest version...which dealer?

anyone in Canada did this (free) upgrade ?

The update only works on Australian (and New Zealand) models, and the map data is only for these countries.

You would need to purchase and download or have them mail you the SD car with the Canadian Region Map Data.

The upgrade is super easy. I was 2 versions behind and just purchases in March so I called Kia and they shipped me the update for free instead of paying $145 US for it. Takes about an hour for the update to apply.

Any idea what's their criteria for sending it for free (months limit after buying)?

They told me the first one is free

So the dealer updated mine last year and when I try and register on the site, its not letting me as my Vin# is already registered.
