KHARTUNERZ / GiroDisc 2 Piece Slotted Rotors

When are the first Batch shipping? How long for the pads you think?

FIrst 10 sets of rotors have already finished machining
and have been sent off for anodizing so give about 2 weeks or so for getting them back and assembly

IM hoping to have pads right before they begin to ship out

The Kia Stinger rotors are not warped, and if they were, what would "power levels" have to do with that? With the Stinger, this is a pad problem. The pads are unevenly depositing pad material to the rotors causing them to vibrate or pulse. This is from a failure of the user to bed in the pads/rotors and season the brake pads when they got the car. Also, assuming that the hub and wheel interface is flat and the wheel bolts (or hat mounting hardware) are installed correctly and tightened uniformly in the correct order to the proper torque specification, "warping" is not at all likely. There is nothing wrong with the Stinger rotors.

Keep in mind that with less weight on the hub, the stock shock will not be working as hard as it would with heavier rotors. The possibility exists that this will change your ride characteristics slightly. (For those who shoot, think about how reducing the weight of your bolt carrier group in an AR will change the need for a heavier buffer spring.) However, the benefits in other areas will likely outweigh any changes in suspension compliance.

That being said, if you desire an a new set of rotors, the GiroDisc brakes are highly reviewed by many users with cars more expensive than our Stingers. They look great and if money is no issue, there is no good reason not to get them.

Being a car guy, I made sure to bed my brakes immediately. A couple thousand miles ago, I noticed the shudder that comes with uneven rotor surfaces. The dealership confirmed via test drive. I left my car with them. They measured and found my rotors, without pad deposits, to be 'warped'. Hot spotting read the term.

They machined, turned, each of them as much as possible, and they were still warped, though not as badly.

My replacements are finally in, and will be completely replaced this Thursday.

Unless Kia has improved the rotors to go with these Brembo pads and calipers, I know I'll be buying these in a few thousand more miles.

Same issue with mine
Can I get kia to keep replacing them? Probably? But I do value my time and much rather upgrade to these than having to deal with the issues of the stock rotors warping so easily

The unevenly deposited material is what caused the thickness variation or change in run-out. This deposited material is often not visible to the naked eye. This thickness variation results in "proud" areas protruding from the surface that come into contact with the pad material raising the temperature in that local area. These areas of the rotor become hotter than the areas surrounding the "proud" area. Locally, when the the temperature reaches around 1200 or 1300 degrees F, the cast iron under the deposit begins to transform into cementite. This is what hot spotting is.

This problem is caused by the pads. Once the rotors are damaged, they cannot be turned to fix them for several reasons. New rotors with a different composition pad is warranted. Choose the euro-spec pads from Kia until suitable aftermarket pads are available.

The stock rotors do not "warp", period. To say they do it easily, well is simply rubbish. I value my money and my time. Replacement using new stock rotors with the Kia Euro-spec pad is a solution that is more cost effective and no more time consuming than aftermarket rotors. Again, if cost is no issue, this won't apply to you.

I've had them on for 6000 km now, and not a hint of wobble unlike the OEM which started feeling shitty within 5k. Great product, great seller! Thanks Nick

What pads are you running?

Girodisc magic pads
Maybe those "magic pads" would work great on the OE rotors. Or, if you were still running OE pads, your Girodisc rotors would get lumpy too. What do you think?

Just ordered these today...13.1k miles so my fronts no longer warranty...teamed them up with hawk hps pads and the stop tech stainless brake lines...will report back on how they look and feel....thanks khar for the help in selection...

@NICK_KHAR is awesome. I may go this route down the road. Looking forward to your review

I got my stinger back with new not cut rotors and brake pads have approx 1200 miles have not felt any vibration as of today...
Have had rotors resurfaced at 21000 miles replaced front pads with aftermarket now at 53500 miles no warping or shudder will not use kia pads in the future...

Good information know! What pads are you running on?
