360 Camera for USA?

I know this is intended for Kia executives but I just want to chime in on some recent rumblings around the net that MAY help explain what their reasoning is. And boy oh boy would we love to hear from Kia as to why they did this. However, we're hearing that the 2019 model will be released a bit earlier than usual next year (Potentially July or August - which sort of, kind of makes sense since that would be nearly a year since the Stinger was released in South Korea and Australia) - with more features like surround view camera, Qi wireless charging, heated rear seats, etcetera...

I believe the reasoning behind this is to allow for Genesis Motors to release their upcoming small luxury sedan, the G70, without much fuss in regards to Stinger comparisons. On one hand, this can/may/will make some people wait until the 2019 model year to get these features. On the other hand, if the 2019 model has these things - they wouldn't be too difficult to retrofit onto/into the 2018 model. This would be a good thing for early adopters who wanted to be one of the first inside the shiny new object (the Stinger, of course). And these are typically the people less concerned with spending a little more to have what other people want...

I second the support of the US model having the 360 camera. The Korean spec that was on display had the feature. In fact, I expect that feature on a 50K car today.

You're not alone. I see a lot of people saying this. My question is - at what price point does a midsize luxury car get a feature like surround view camera? I understand it's in the Optima but that's a very unusual car to have such high tech features. I have no idea at what price a 5-Series or E-Class gets a surround view camera - or a Cadillac, or Audi, etcetera. I'm just not entirely confident that the majority of $50,000 midsize cars in America have this feature to have us saying we expect it in a $50,000 car...

It was unusual, until they put it in the Kia Optima. It’s no longer unusual in a <$50K Kia.

I'm not sure at what price they get this feature either, but as Chris said below, some not so amazing cars have it as well. Even if they didn't though, you don't put it in the Optima and then not put it in your vehicle that's supposed to be better than the Optima. That's just crazy.

A $35k 2018 Rav4 Platinum has 360 Camera, a $32k optioned out Rav4 Limited has 360 camera, 45k Infiniti Q50 and Q60 has 360 camera, Optima and Cadenza has 360 camera option

you guys in the USA need to hammer KIA to reinstate this feature. With the limited sight lines out of the narrow windows and long bonnet I dont know how you could park this car without a surround view camera.

Here is Australia we have it available on the top spec GT only and for me it has turned out to be the best feature I never knew I needed especially coming from driving SUVs for the last 12 years where running into kerbs is no issue.

I guarantee without it at some stage everyone will damage there bumpers and rims from a lack of visibility.

That's a lot of wires to run. Haha. Someone needs to see if the current rearview camera uses an rca cable. If so it might work. (It would replace the rearview camera function)

I put my arm around the passenger seat and turn around to look, even lifting my rear end out of the seat if necessary. It's the same way I've always done it. The visibility out the back isn't as bad as some cars I've owned.

While a lot of us enthusiasts know it's the same powertrain underneath, the general public don't get that deep into the background of what they are buying. Heck some folks today still think Hyundai and KIA are the same as they were years ago and while they will oogle the car and love everything about it, once they find out who makes it, the brand snob in them comes out and they wouldn't buy one just because of that.

For my last 2 Optima hybrids, I got one of the first to arrive at the dealer due to liking the improvements. Mine had an option or 2 missing from a package but it wasn't something I cared about. On the Stinger however, knowing that the rest of the world are getting those options and their price point are lower, it irks me some. This time I'm happy to wait for the 2nd model year version in hopes those options will make it in.

I think's it's a spring launch? I'm hoping for a Q1 announcement with cars hitting dealers early/mid spring. I'd really like to have a car by May! I figure by then....the craziness of the Stinger will have calmed down and the unknown's of the G70's features will have solidified by then. I really do believe a 50K car should have surround view, remote start and wireless charging.
