Wonder when EVO, Top Gear, Octane, Road and Track, automobile, car and driver , motor trend will give it car of the year award? Car seems to come up short for most enthusiast magazine testing staff. They typically like it for a Korean car but it never advances to finals or win much. Awards come from companies Kia pays like CR or JD power. Not much independent awards. Kinda like kids who get participation awards and proud parents proclaiming my kid won an award! Fell short big time in motortrends best drivers car.

They typically like it for a Korean car but it never advances to finals or win much. Awards come from companies Kia pays like CR or JD power. Not much independent awards. You mean it fell short in a performance test against cars like the Huracan Performante, M5, GT2 RS, and the McLaren 720S? What a surprise! Hell, it beat out the TT RS, Corvette ZR1, and a performance pack Mustang GT. That's pretty dang good.

I paid 37k for my GT1. Go find me another new car that can break into the 12s stock, with 4 doors and a usable back seat for adults, with equal tech, for under 40k.

Sorry WCGT......but at every turn came "THE JOKER" .....regardless of the praises heaped on this vehicle, reviews, comparisons etc.....it's not good enough....

I've been shopping pretty hard over the last couple of months for something with the same or larger interior size, faster, and at around the same (or a bit more) price. There is NOTHING available in this world that can compete with the Stinger's size, performance, tech, warranty, and price. Nothing! Full stop.

This week I've been shopping 2015-16 F10 M5s and still can't find anything that makes sense to trade. With mods my Stinger is probably at 450-475 crank hp WITH 9 years and 86k miles of warranty left!

Kia has done a helluva thing with this car, no matter what the haters and trolls say.

Agreed! I don’t understand why so many enthusiast rags do that - EVO put a VW UP in their car of year with super cars too. One of these days there will be an enthusiast mag that just puts normal cars in their car of the year runoffs.

The Stinger really is in a class of its own for sure! Just loved my GTs launch off the line. And wish they had used AWD Stinger GT in Motor Trend greatest drag race with somone who knew how to launch the car. Was disappointed to see RWD GT they used not launched properly. Stinger GTs are all about that first dig off the line. Lose that and well it’s hasta la vista super cars .

But truly awards in the car industry are all suspect to me. Especially the companies that extract money from big car manufacturers like JD power. Stinger stands on its own as great engineering feat by Kia. Don’t need stupid award to inform me of that. So many things done well in a $35k package by Kia . You’re right nothing comes close to value of GT. If I had it to do over I’d get Stripped down GT with RWD and LSD. No blasted sun roof.

Will argue rear seat thing though. I didn’t fit in rear seats of my Stinger and most getting in and out looked like contortionists getting in those small low door openings and tall people bump heads on low roof line. Decent room for small people though once seated. My friends are all over 6 ft tall. Part of reason I opted to keep my Dodge SUV over Stinger as my family hauler was passenger comfort. Well and I can tow my boat or a race car with the dodge. Lol!

But if I go back to a 4 car household a used GT will likely be on my list. Hell I have all new never used parts to mod a stinger in my garage still including plugs and piggy back tune, full suspension mods. I’m almost destined for another one!

why are you looking to trade the Stinger in?

I would love an M5, but I would need a second car and not be afraid to put a good chunk of $$$ to the side for the inevitable repairs.

Boredom, I guess. February 8th made a year with the Stinger. It's one of only two cars I've kept for longer than a year.

I've been looking at a few 550xi too. With a JB4 it should be able to run with the M5s. An extended warranty will be bought with any German car I purchase for sure.
