Anyone consider a crossover like the Audi SQ5 or BMW X3 M40i?

My top 3 are the SQ5, M40i, and Stinger GT2 in no particular order. Usually people look at the S5 sportback and 440i GC, but I like the X3 and SQ5. I've driven all 3 and they all have their strong points. The M40i sounds amazing and drives well with lots of tech inside. The SQ5 has the comfort/sport combo I like, and the Stinger has a good mix of everything. The dilemma is they're all around the same price. A used 2018 X3 or SQ5 with less than 10k miles is around $43,000-$45,000. The Stinger warranty is difficult to beat though. Although when I was at BMW and Audi, they kept insisting...pulling up in a Kia isn't the same as an Audi or BMW. I currently have a Lexus GS350 F-sport and they even said Lexus isn't as cool because people keep them for so long.

Pulling up in Audi or BMW shows you have money to burn. People can't keep there Audi/BMW as they get expensive to repair and keep breaking down and keep lexus Long as they don't need a new car. I had heavily considered GS350 F-sport and GSF, they handle great and are reliable than anything else that's a RWD luxury sedan.

I went with stinger just for few things, like Android Auto, new car (didn't want to spend on new GS 350 or GSF).

About crossovers, only one I considered was Acura RDX Advance SH-AWD, since it was more practical for me in future and was reliable with also being fun (gives you feel of RWD bias when pushed in corners). Went with Kia Stinger GT2, because YOLO.

I didn’t consider a crossover. For me it was about having something unique and not jumping on the crossover bandwagon.

You also can’t beat the low sporty stance a car like the Stinger has. Only way you’ll get that with those crossovers is to dump em on coil overs or air suspension.

They also won’t touch the Stingers performance. The 3.3tt is a potent engine.

All this. I know where I live, Audi's, BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus are everywhere. I constantly get people asking me about my car with that excited look on their face.

Ok. Trying to keep the thread on topic is all. Crossovers vs the Stinger not how beautiful sportback designs are. Even though I agree with you about the GC.

Who cares what people think? What people? People you will never see again in your life and who are busy thinking about their own lives and not what some stranger is driving? You should buy what you like. I am in the process of buying a car too, it is hard to assess a car in a single test drive so I am test driving the cars multiple times. I am trying to accurately assess steering feel, suspension handling, and fun-to-drive-ness all of which are highly subjective qualities. I will probably test drive the RDX because the reviews are so good, but I suspect I will ultimately wind up with the Stinger or A5 SB.

Nothing wrong with asking opinions. The more info, the better. Cars are expensive. I also asked Stinger owners how they felt about the car before I got it. And you apparently also care about other people's opinions or you wouldn't be referencing reviews of the RDX.

Sure I use professional and semiprofessional reviews to eliminate the herd of cars available, it saves me time so I don't go test driving every car like a Toyota Avalon when looking for a driver's car.

Not sure if you've driven a Stinger yet but it's a hoot and very practical .......not as much as a cuv but all depends on needs or usages......

Love the way Stinger drives. They gave me a 2019 Ceramic silver GT2 for a 24 hour test drive. If the 2018 had the 360 camera, I probably would have walked out with one that day. I’m holding out for a 2019 Panthera metal when the incentives kick in(conquest, etc.). I’m wanting to be at $40,000 OTD. I’ve been in contact with my local dealer about any new incentives they get. They did just get a White used 2019 GT2 with 3500 miles and offered it to me for $40,000. I’m going to check it out this weekend.

Another pro for getting a sportback is my wife already has a Lexus RX350. Haha no need for 2 SUV’s right? When I had the ceramic silver stinger at home, my 2 year old walked outside and with a huge smile and no prompting said, “oooooh a race car, I like that.”

Sort of, but I wanted a low-slung GT land-rocket that accommodates nearly as much gear.
