The filters do look small, however you have to factor in total surface filtration. You have conical surface that has greater area than a flat filter.

EDIT: just quick numbers ... the stock filter is ~9.2” x 7.5” = ~ 68 in of flat surface area (no pleats included).

AP ‘looks’ estimates at ~ 2.5” radius and 5” height = ~ 63 inches of surface area. So it’s close.

True but a conical filter that small doesn’t appear as though it is much bigger than the stock flat filter.

Yeah, that’s close due to the stock filter’s not being square... but it’s in the ballpark for sure.

The turbos get very hot and will always transfer more heat more quickly to aluminum intake piping than plastic on a turbo car. Go read up on it. If the car never moved and just sat there sure it might not make a difference but air is entering the bay to cool things down when you're moving and aluminum is a much better conductor of heat.

I totally agree! So it depends on what type of heat soak you are trying to avoid. Short stop light heat soak would benefit plastic. Long 30 plus min heat soak when waiting your turn at the track is a different story. Plastic is slower to heat up and also slower to cool down so once you are heat soaked it will last longer but less severe as the heat transfer is slower.

I will take measurements of the AP filters for you and you can run the calculation lol
 
I thought plastic just heat soaked less overall .... though it was better than aluminum... companies decide on aluminum design because it easier to manufacture and cheaper ... but that just what I have heard on the past ..

Plastic is an insulator and aluminum conducts heat quickly. So again slow to heat soak and slow to cool vs fast to soak and fast to cool. But without a snorkle mod or sealed system you are pulling in hot air all the time so perm soaked.

Just wrap the things - plastic or aluminum. It's safer. :D

So, first REAL post in a while. Installing this intake is pretty easy. I'm not much into videos, but once you figure out the process it goes quickly. One tin hiccup would be the BPV hose on the passenger side. Unless you rotate that side a little extra towards the fender you will need to trim or replace this piece. We are talking about maybe a 1/2 inch too long if you don't do this.
Outside of that it was quite simple.. and those filters are not that small.

And how’s it sound?
 
with the shields on there it doesn't sound as 'sucky' as others, but it is a deeper roar. i believe those cavities are echoing and making a decent sound.
