Anyone thought about making hood ducts real?

I'm going to be running her at the strip on a regular basis, and heat buildup really (a) messes with performance and (b) is not healthy for the power unit.

I'm already well into ideas for bringing more air into the engine compartment, but displacing the hot air would certainly be simpler if those vents were functional.

Please note - I'm pretty much certain they are in no way going to be functional at directing air into the engine compartment while in-motion. I'm just looking for a practical way to let hot air out, which might seem counter-intuitive to the way they are styled.

Has anyone here already been down this path and found some useful solutions? Just wondering if there's already something out there so I don't have to re-invent the wheel myself.

I’m pretty sure there is a thread on this topic already. I was researching the same thing.

Doesn't seem like there's much demand for an answer.. Cutting thru the hood isn't all that appealing. I totally get the fact that things work as designed when in-motion, but at the strip, there's a lot more "stop" than "go", so I was looking for a way to help naturally dissipate some of that heat..

I read somewhere if you do put in vents it changes the airflow around the engine in a detrimental way.

Why not run this test...remove the hood ornaments, there are holes for the mounting tabs. Run the car and see how much heat escapes from those holes. If it's a good bit, then we know to have some built with the nut and bolt hardware to bolt them on and only use a few of the mounting points that way the OE holds can vent.

They are small, but could in theory vent some heat

The size of the mounting tab holes are so small it will not vent at all. You need to cut open the under side of the hood in order to start seeing a difference, if any.

it may also disrupt the air flowing over the car.

A lot of people in Korea made real vents.
What I don't like about the design is that they add a kind of case below to receive water and expell it through a pipe.

Here are so pics from the outside:

Now from under the hood...

I have seen it in real life and it looks not bad, but there must be much better way to implement this.

So if they are blocked from underneath and water gets piped out what’s the point of having them then?
The looks man

They look good but I think most are looking for both looks and functionality.
Yes and that's why I am also waiting for a functional design. ;)

So xot1, are they available in SK or are they a custom DYI?

They do look good...….
This is custom made by some local shop.

Very interesting design, but I think that water pick up tray negates any possible benefits the mod may have.

Also @xot1 I noticed on the photo below that they already have a light weight water pump pulley already, do you know if its an underdriven or overdriven pulley?
