Hi everyone, this may seem like a stupid topic, but in my state we have to have the front plates. Which is ugly, so I want to get frames that would at least pretty them up a bit, if you will. Wondering what people think would be best with a pearl white car? I have the premium, so not the pearl black chrome grill inserts. Have never really liked the whole carbon fiber thing but as I look at the black grill and the gray grill surround, I am actually thinking that might be best?

If I did that, what about the rear then? Stick with the matching frames or just do a pearl black on the rear? I am planning to re-badge with the K emblems so maybe I should get two carbon fiber/chrome versions and then match to the carbon fiber plate frames? Any experience/pics would be helpful. Again, I know a nitpicky thing, but the front plate thing is bothersome. Thanks!

Does your state pull over for lacking a licence plate in front? (first offense) Or do they only tack on that infraction when they pull you over for a first offense? Because in Utah we are technically in violation without a front plate. But I refuse to put one on. Here, it is a secondary offense and the cops will not pull you over and cite you for lacking a front plate alone.

Now, that was only brought up because if your state also doesn't cite for just a missing plate, you can (imho) ignore the stupid law; keep your speed and driving habits civilized, and get on with life (and an untrammelled front end).

If this is not an option: Matching plate frames, as close to the chrome on the grills as possible; or, as close to the splitter and diffuser black plastic as possible. Or even as exactly matching the car color as possible (the subtle approach).

I have the same car and my state requires both...so I am following your post and interested in pics once you choose please! I took my new E badges into Kia and they couldn't change them out it required filling new holes and drilling new ones...let me know how these are working out for anyone else please!

A couple comments - nothing wrong with being particular about how you want your car to look...that is part of the fun!

I'm in Minnesota and a front plate is required as well. However, on my last car, I decided to go without one...for the last 2.5 years I drove without a front plate and never had an issue (32,000 miles driven). So...on my Stinger, I'm actually considering having the factory license bracket removed and having the holes filled/re-painted...and while I'm at it, I'm thinking about having the holes from the badge filled for a super clean look!

If you decide to go with a plate, post up a pic of what you end up getting - always fun to see!

Good luck with your decision and enjoy your Stinger!

Thank you for the input. So, the car came with the plates already on. Removing them is not an option as I have been pulled over before simply for having no plate. Me and a an officer pulled up to a 4-way stop at the same time. I let him go, then went, then he turned around and lit me up, citing me for no license plate on the front. Considered a moving violation and hits insurance for 7 years in my state. So I need to have the plate!

I was looking at gloss black to match the grill, but leaning toward something like the seibon carbon fiber plates. Reason being, I can match the emblems and the gray surround/black grille on the front. I also noticed that my wheels are also black/gray in the same fashion of carbon fiber so I thought that would make sense. I still like the idea of black but am just worried they will end up looking awful with wear. I normally just do stainless steel brushed finish but am feeling that will not look as good on this car.

Thank you to av8r for the picture. If anyone has a carbon fiber on white car that would be nice to see as well, and might help others. Thanks.

I found one at Advance that closely matched the color of the wing mirrors, side vents and grill trim. No front plate for me either even though it's required in Ohio. My dealership never even mounted the bracket for it because they said no Stinger owner has wanted it yet. Going on 3 months and no problems yet

Hey, that is pearl black, that's nice! Tough to find online...searching just brings up a bunch of the pirate ship plates! I will check that out, see if Advance has any here, thank you.

The kit I have came with cap covers for the screws which you see on the bottom two. The problem is the cap covers don't fit over the screws I have so I just used some Krazy Glue and permanently affixed them to the bracket and left the top ones just bare screw heads. If you find this one be careful as the finish will scuff and scratch easily. It's actually a little lighter in color than what the picture shows. I was in a closed garage with overhead lighting casting some shadow

I just cut off the one post that was on the other side then the holes. No filling or drilling. Just cut it low enough to allow for a good seal.
