Well I am now in a dilemma. My JB4 has been great to me, but I have been reading reviews and seen the dynos and I have to consider the ProTuner.

Any thoughts?

My issue is that the dynos can't really be compared to each other, unless it's on the same car, same dyno, same day. There's nothing yet that would sway my decision from a Jb4 to a lap3. No comparable dynos, no 1/4 mile times, nothing. Lap3 is posting most of their dynos with a primary downpipe which most others do not have.

LAP 3 Pro Tune - NO MODS

JB4 W/ Fuel Control Wires.

As you can see @brancky3 both stock stingers were 328/330 WHP so thats pretty damn close on the dynos, but one hits 426WHP (ProTuner) with no mods the other hits 391 with no mods (Map2).

Thats a MASSIVE difference of 35 WHP

The numbers are very impressive, I'm just standing by for a user-posted back to back review with real life numbers / slips. It will eventually happen.

Until I see some of the other companies show those 1/4s with mods and all weather data listed, I’ll sit here... happy with my JB4.

I independently tested the racechip against the JB4 onthe exact same dyno on the exact same day with the exacts same car. Those two performed almost exactly the same. I also race the racechip on the road against a JB4 w/ fueling RWD stinger against me in a racechip black AWD stinger. The JB4 did pull away but only by about a car length at 120mph. I removed JB4 to install ProTuner..... this is significantly faster.

I’ll be returning to that dyno next week and tonight I’ll be going to a 1/8 mile strip. The same strip on which I ran the stinger with JB4.

It's only money. Just buy it and sell whatever tuning system you like less. :) With advanced tuning systems like these getting too wrapped up in performance comparisons can be misleading because at the end of the day they can all be setup to deliver similar performance.

The JB4 offers all the same technical capacity along with a more refined interface in an easier to install and less expensive package. As mentioned performance with either is simply going to be a function of how aggressive the tuning is set and what additional modifications are in place. How "smooth" or how "responsive" a map feels is also a function of how that specific map is setup.

We've published a range of JB4 maps that are well tested and able to support 400-450whp on mildly modified cars with factory like driving characteristics. As development plows forward we'll continue to release stronger JB4 maps, more features, and add-ons to keep the JB4 on top. For example we've already got a couple customers testing JB4 integrated progressive water/meth control.

If you're making more power then you're just running more boost, more timing, and/or a leaner AFR. Easy to quantify by posting a datalog. You'll notice with every JB4 dyno we also post the datalog showing boost, timing, and air/fuel ratio so customers can make informed comparisons. And our system is designed for customers to be able to easily record and evaluate their own logs when they want to evaluate how their tuning is working or how aggressive it is.

@Terry@BMS Here's my question to you. Can the JB4 hit 426 WHP on 93 Octane fuel with no other Mods? Do you think that you will develop a map that can run safely and have longevity that can meet or exceed that?

Like I've said the JB4 has been amazing but these numbers are insane.

Curious, was the RWD car running map 1 or 2?

@Terry@BMS Here's my question to you. Can the JB4 hit 426 WHP on 93 Octane fuel with no other Mods?

Sure, we've made 430-440whp on ~93 octane (91 + a couple gallons of E85 mixed in), at map3 levels. The intake is a significant restriction though I'd definitely upgrade that. The BMS intake is affordable and easy to install. Will post details hopefully next week. We won't be doing downpipes on our car as they are highly illegal in the USA. And I don't want the odor at idle.

Also not all dynos are going to read the same. What we cook up in the labs here isn't always going to be what customers hit. So before you take their 426whp as gospel, or whatever we suggest you'll make with the JB4, install and and test it on your own car to see where you stand. And if you record JB4 logs we're always here to help you ensure you're getting as much out of it as you safely should be.

Yes it was running map2. It had the fuel wires and was running an ethanol blend as well

Why not map5? lol. Map2 is tame for E30 + fuel wires. Don't you have downpipes, water/meth, etc? Or is it another car?

Also not all dynos are going to read differently. What we cook up in the labs here isn't always going to be what customers hit. So before you take that 426whp as gospel, or whatever we suggest you'll make with the JB4, install and and test it on your own car. And see where you stand. :)
Talk to me about that intake before I order any other intake.

It could have been another map he was running in not sure I just know it was the fuel wire map. And yes I have meth but it has been off for some time now.

And just for clarification I’m not saying anything bad about JB4 I enjoyed it quiet a bit and even myself helped spread the word on it.

Cool, please post results and show us some pics of the LAP3 installed.

I wish E85 was closer I'd make this my primary map over 2.

Cant wait to see what you bring out for the intake.

Does the JB4 allow removal of the speed limiter like the LAP3?
