... given that it eliminates navigation, sunroof and the H-K sound system?

Those are - at least to me - three key items, and their unavailability would kill the GT for me!

Anyone get one?

I have a base GT..

Navigation... Phone does that when I need it
Sunroof... Arizona, not all that fun to have one in the summer here
H-K Sound System... ya, it would be cool to have, but I have a tendincy to change my speakers with aftermarket anyways after awhile... Not sure I will though this time, as I am more than happy with the "Stock" ones that come in the base GT.

Only thing I wish I had was the larger screen on the Instrument Cluster that the GT1 and GT2s have.

Smaller screen for lower model never made sense to me. Saves them less than $10 but cost them a lot in assembly line for different design.

I know people have different wants and needs, but I won't give up nav until they connect Android Auto via bluetooth!

I know some people rarely use their in-car navigation, but I enjoy having it on all the time just for reference if nothing else. As good as Android Auto might be, I'm not going to plug in my phone every time I get in the car. Now, make it wireless and I might change my mind. :)

One thing that I don't care for is the summer tires on the GTs. I thought GT meant Grand Touring, and 19" staggered-size summer tires are more a performance item than a touring thing. Makes me wish they'd do a version with all-season 18s and the 3.3-liter engine (I know, the AWD version has 18s, but that doesn't fit the definition for me, either. :(

Theres an option with those deleted? I would want that. I hate screens in cars and getting rid of the sunroof would improve handling.

That is the whole point of the GT1 trim. The GT is stripped down to be the most affordable way you can get the twin-turbo V6.

In Canada the v6 GT's all have sunroofs with the Limited gets the 8" screen with nav and the regular GT get a 7" screen without nav. The GT line (4 cylinder model) is also going to have a 7" screen but no sunroof I believe, so unless you pick up a US GT your sol

I didn’t want the nav as I prefer waze, didn’t want the sunroof with the rattles and weight and I honestly don’t think the HK system is anything to write home about...

It had 0 to do with price not going to the GT2

I imagine a fair number of base GT buyers are getting it for the performance potential and the interior options list is only secondary. Once the 2019s hit the lots and base GT's have LSD as standard it starts to look a LOT more appealing from that view point.

I’ll be picking my GT up tomorrow, AWD with 19’ summers. Nothing fancy, and that’s exactly how I wanted it. Phone for nav/music but it has the 3.3 in it and AWD.

Can’t. Wait.

((Might become an issue down the road when the New England winter hits, but us FreeFolk know how to manage.))

I have base GT, love it; just wanted the performance aspect of the vehicle. Plus it's not like you can tell the difference between a GT and GT1/GT2. Car looks bad-ass, no matter which GT version you purchase.
Navigation=Waze
Sunroof=Hardly ever used in previous vehicle
HK Sound=9 speaker is good enough for me.

Hell now that you can get LSD as option it’s a screaming deal. Well negoatiated im thinking mid thirties for a car that is very capable. Biggest iissue for me was no LSD. So put on big boy pants and paid $45K for GT2 just so I could have freaking lsd. Other stuff is nice but suspect sales of gt2 will drop with LSD option. I don’t know that anyone is getting $10k more in value now that factory warranted lsd is able to be installed on base GT. I perhaps would have gone for that option.

Anyone who is looking to mod the car probably is best off with Base GT with LSD. Lighter, no sunroof for more rigid chassi, no unnesary extras. Truly what can you buy at $35k that even comes close to this car? If there was an easy to install sequential transmission that would bolt onto this car I’d bu base GT to make endurance racer. Could see one of these in 25 hours of thunder hill. Knock weight down to 3000 lbs, make only minor cooling mods to motor and perhaps tune. Upgrade brakes, suspension, fatter 18x10 wheels square and this car would be very comfy long distance racer. Great torque for getting around traffic but low engough peak hp to be classed reasonably. I’d worry about using auto trans and would think sequential would perk up this cars performance and shed much needed weight.

Lol. I guess that's why they make both chocolate AND vanilla. :)

That’s because we do get too many options when it comes to cars, in a way it sucks. Remember our Stingers are the GT1 and GT2 just names different, so if we had a GT it would be good for the people here who just can’t afford the top trims.

I'm still not sure why carmakers change names and equipment depending on the market. Yes, I understand that certain things might be more desirable in some markets than others, but it still doesn't seem necessary to change the names of the models and offer - or delete - basic things, only to turn around and offer them as options in other markets. And I have some marketing experience!

Seems like a KISS approach would be more practical and economically beneficial.

After the test drive, I pondered over the weekend what I truly wanted in a gran turismo, and the focus turned to what the reasons were for buying the car. All the Stingers are oriented for comfort and a quiet ride with lots of room for passengers and stuff. After that: First, power (including the most handling and traction, i.e. AWD), second full surround sound, third light and a cool view, i.e. sun/moonroof. That landed on the GT1. (If I was into modding and tracking, then of course the base GT RWD.)

Base GT here, had it since end of January and approaching almost 11k miles later. Only 2 things I wish I had was HK & LSD. I think LSD can be ordered independently with the Drivers Assist package but when having that package it cuts your speedo back to 130-135 MPH if I heard correctly.

That's the first I've heard of that "demerit". Why would a LSD reduce top speed? I'm not believing.

If you get AWD and the 18" option, your top speed is lowered.

Prior to getting mine, I wanted the RWD and the missing options the US market don't get. With all the rain we have been getting lately and snow our area have been receiving the past few years, I pondered about a winter tire option in the future. After researching a car for my buddy wife, I lucked out and found the only available Ceramic Silver w/Red interior, which had AWD, in our area (others had lots of miles on them or were being used by dealer personnel) with low miles and I pounced on it. Why? Mainly it's me and the wife, at times, in the car. AWD means it will be able to get around with some good UHP AS tires in the winter without the need to swap winters on, plus the price on it was pretty good.

If the GT had the HK system, I might have gone for that when they first came out as with the standard suspension setup, it drove and handled quite well.
