After owing multiple supercharged cars most of my adult life 97 gtp, 07 supercharged gt and currently owning an 01 Svt Lightning. All those cars had 1 thing in common, blower noise. The Lightning is on steroids compared to the other 2 but even stock at certain speeds you could hear it on both my Pontiac's. After owning my 2020 Stinger for about 6 months, I love most of the car but it kinda bothers me that I have not 1 but 2 turbos, yet you wouldn't know it based on the fact that I can't hear them. I know this car isn't supposed to be an all out in your face vehicle so I'm sure they buttoned everything up but why is it that even at higher speeds I don't hear anything remotely turbo like? I've never owned a turbo car so please excuse my naivete on the matter.

Plastic. Lots of it. Everything is closed up and nada resonates as plastic is a good damper of sound. Usually done for the market buyer so they don't hear noises as some don't like it

CAI will allow you to hear them spooling up.

It has to do with emissions regulations as well as proper reading of the air fuel mixture. Factory turbocharged cars recirculate the air back in to the system and as a result you don't have any noise. You can hear them spool somewhat though. Aftermarket blow off valves vent to atmosphere producing an audible sound (that pssh noise). This can cause issues though as the atmospheric venting tends to do *odd* things to the air fuel mixture readings and the computer will compensate by running a richer mixture of fuel to make up for what it thinks is a lean condition. Also aftermarket BOVs do nothing for adding power or making anything other than noise unless you are running very high amounts of boost pressure which would necessitate their use. Keep in mind though that they also require the ECU to be tuned to account for their use so that you don't end up with the issues above as well as potential stalling etc.

Hope this helps.

Not in these cars. It's closed loop. We don't meter air amount in

Really? Wow, that's pretty neat. I was unaware, thank you! *thumbs up*
I was going off my experiences with various older turbocharged cars of mine. They were nowhere near as fancy as the Stinger though.

Before the intakes, I couldn’t hear anything. Now with the Injen, it sounds beautiful

LOL. Do they come in red?

To the original post, you speak of noise. Superchargers have a very distinct sound to them, completely different from a turbocharger. You probably are use to a "whine" with a supercharger. Not going to get that with with turbos. However, there are ways that you can louden the turbo noise: intakes and BOVs. These are pretty small turbos compared to your single turbo set ups in higher power cars. Aftermarket turbo sound on built cars are pronounced because they're "uuuge".

An aftermarket exhaust, intake, or BOV will help with the noise you want, but it's not going to be like superchargers.

Buy a semi enclosed cold air intake today! I have AEM and many brands have great stuff. This will in an instant (install) give you the best turbo aounds and it will make you love the stinger again. I swear on it.

Intakes that breathe
Bov to squawk
And if you need louder pipes thats a solid mod

These 3 things make the car sound like a twin turbo beast

I realize that a turbo and a supercharger do not sound the same lol. I've been in friends turbo cars before STI, Eclipse/Talon, 5.3 ls with a turbo, Grand National, etc ......Heard plenty of sound on those and they have single turbos. But like you said, the turbo was probably much bigger than ours.
