running with the Continental ContiSport Contact 5 tyres my vehicle has just clocked 10,000kms.

What would be considered average life expectancy of these tires and is there a good time to rotate them to maximize mileage ?

MY19 GT spec vehicles in Australia are soon to be switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres

Couple things, the Stinger GT runs a staggered setup meaning you can't rotate tires front to back, you also can't rotate side-to-side if your tires are directional. Does anyone know off hand if the Michelin Pilot Sport 4's are directional or not?

According to my service tech and an article I am failing to relocate, they are asymmetric, not directional.

If you can't go front to back, I don't see a benefit in rotating. Am I missing something?
My service swap the tires side to side each time I go in for an oil change/maintenance check. Can't hurt. And they might discover something. But I am guessing the "rotation" is of minimal importance in the case of staggered tires.

I have always thought that the primary benefit of rotation is when you can go from a drive wheel to a non-drive wheel or front to back due to turning.

And what benefit is that?

The tire is spinning in the opposite direction at least, if my mental gymnastics are correct. Would think this would help but am not certain .

Don't know that it would extend tire life?
Would keep things more even? As I said, minimal benefit. If one side were wearing the tire out faster than the other, wouldn't this extend to suspension issues of some sort? A bigger problem than just tire life. Swapping a tire from one side to the other might reveal a developing issue. It's always good when "they" are looking over our stuff during scheduled maintenances.

Not worth the effort to me. If there is unusual ware, would be noticeable without the rotation.

Well, if you're a wannabe Nascar driver and spend all day at an oval track, you'll wear out the tires on one side faster! Left-> Right rotation would be great in that case.

But yeah, rotation is usually to get the worn tires off of the driving axle. Not so necessary on a staggered setup.

I've never been a fan of the side to side rotation. Always seemed to pick up a shimmy from those belts wearing in the same direction for thousands of miles and all of a sudden going the other way

I agree!

For fvks sake, have ANY of you bothered to look in the manual?

fwiw, I did before responding, and I don't even own a Stinger! It covers both scenarios!

You don't? Well I'll be swizzled. A moderator, too, no less. Are you getting one? Waiting for 2019?

That's a big manual! Comments were based on experience. This is a general issue not Stinger specific.

OP, I'd say 4-6k miles is a good time to rotate.

Might want to check on Contis website to see what they recommend for their tires.
