Hello all. I have a scratch in one of the grey painted areas of a wheel. Does anyone know of a good touch-up paint match?

Thanks!

Sure! Here it is; this is about as tight a pic as I could get without it getting too blurred.

nasty but easily touched up , I dont recall anyone here mentioning a match , I guess you'll just have to buy a few touch up pens and try to find something close , if you find one pls let everyone know . I'm sure theres a few scratched wheels cause by a fumble removing the wheel cap

In all these years, I think this is the first time anyone has asked for a match on the wheels. Will be interesting to see if anyone has in fact found one.

Yep, exactly how this happened. Had a flat repaired and this was the aftermath. Not happy about it, but having dealt with having a wheel repaired in the past after damage from a tire shop I’d rather just try to touch it up and move on. Maybe I’d pursue it if things weren’t as crazy right now. Anyway, I had a NC Miata Club before the Stinger, and it had dark grey wheels that were a similar color. Toyota Magnetic Grey was a pretty spot-on match for those wheels. I believe I still have the paint pen; if so I’ll do a test and see how close it is.

Not the first. I asked early in my "career" here. Never got an answer either. Still waiting ….

Belay that! Those danged things cost in excess of twelve bucks, even over twenty, depending. This is not an area for casual experimentation.

Yes, please. Put the mystery to rest.:D I bet it will work well enough. I was living with the slight damage to the "gunmetal" on the OE wheels, and then I suffered major scrapes and had them powder coated gloss black; so, the question unanswered faded to back burner status: I'd still like that answer, though.

This is an old thread, but did anybody ever figure out what colour matched the wheels the best?

Yikes; I never got back to this thread. So I ended up trying a couple of different paints. The Magnetic Grey (Toyota) that I mentioned before was a bit too dark. I also tried Sterling Grey (Ford), which matched a bit better but still isn’t perfect. The O’Reilly near me actually has an in house paint specialist that can color match and mix up small batches of paint, but she was off the day I went in and I never actually went back to pursue it. I’d still like to find an exact match, though; just kind of put it on the back burner for now.

Well if you ever do get a chance. Let me know. The previous owner of my car somehow damaged the inside portion of the painted wheel (metal road debris maybe)

Any more comments on the best paint pen for the dark areas of the wheels?
So I got tires at the wholesale club and every wheel has tool marks near the lug nuts from the spinning wrench. And to top that off: the air pressure in the tires when I checked it with the hand gauge (because I couldn't believe the numbers on the dashboard) were 58 psi rear and 54 psi front!!! Like 20-lbs over! The sidewall on the tires said 50 psi max! Never again!

That's some high PSI ..

Wow

I don't know what's up with tire shops and why they can't fill a tire properly. Recently had a couple nails in a tire and had to get it replaced. Same thing. Tire was filled over 50psi. Can't even bother taking 5 seconds to check the pressure.

@HanStinger I had new tires installed (on a brand new car) last year at discount tire. Before leaving the shop, popped the trunk to remove my own gauge. Verified PSI at all 4 corners. It was good enough at 37-38 psi. Adjusted to my own preference following day at home (when all tires were fully cold).

I'm sorry, but these days I have no confidence in anyone else's work.

Here's a solid example - pricing out furnaces. Existing furnace is 92K BTU, 92 AFUE (efficiency). Works fine but coming up in years (18). Most quotes I've gotten say I need a 60K BTU for the size of house. Well... WTF.. This 92K has been working just fine (not short cycling) and satisfying our needs for nearly 2 decades. Why would I want to downsize to something 1/3 less??? Anyway, one place wanted to do a static pressure test. The numbers came back fine at .60" WC which means the ductwork is sufficient for the cfm air flow of the existing unit. Waiting to hear back with proper estimates.

/rant off

The car was bouncing all the way home! I also learned it is hard to take a photo with one hand and hold the gauge with the other.

It’s a shame our resident wheel repair specialist (curbinator) is residing in Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary for felony hit and run….

Undoubtably he’d post his 20,345 post on wheel repair….

Resurrecting an old thread, just slightly curbed my 2021 Stinger Gt Oem wheel :( on the silver/gunmetal part.

Does anyone have a color match for that outside rim section?

Ended up just sanding and polishing with Flitz. No paint needed.
