Wheel hub rust

Hi everyone,

Recently had my summers swapped back on and noticed significant rust on the wheel hub. The hubs are covered by the center cap so the rust isn't visible, but being new to all things automotive I was wondering if this amount of rust is normal or will it cause problems down the road. After some internet searching I was thinking of taking out the rust with Loctite naval jelly rust remover then applying a layer of fluid film to protect the surface in the future - does this sound like a good idea?

No surprise there honestly, probably had some salt/dirt/snow get stuck in there during the winter. I think as long as the surface that is contacting the wheels is clean so its not uneven that is totally normal, especially with our winters/roads.

It's normal so nothing to worry about. It can at times make the wheel difficult to remove but if you apply a thin film of grease at the contact points it will be a lot easier next time.
This is what mine looked like after 12 months. I'm in a mild climate and Stinger doesn't go out in the rain all that often.

Yup as stated very normal, I use a little bit of copper anti seize on the mating surfaces.

That looks very normal for Canada. Behind every spiffed up outer part, is an underlying collection of dirt, grime and RUST. As long as the body doesn't rust out I think the rust on the rest of the car will outlast me.
