Front Dash Rattle Under Speaker (?)

Finally found the source of the noise that sounded like something was loose and knocking behind the dash & it turned out to be one of the little plastic plugs just in front of the passenger door frame, so I've just pulled it out for now. There is still the occasional tapping noise if I go over really rough road or bumps, so I pulled out the rest to see if that does anything. So for now it's 90% gone.

now that you have ID'd it maybe get your dealer to fix it so you dont have other potential issues , good work !

All of these little fixes for a passel of noise producing causes: will I remember any of them if/when my car starts to make this one or that one? :P "You heard it first here" only works if the resource isn't as colossal as a library!

That was succinct by your normal standards MtM lol. As said previously ive had the whole dash and consul rattling and vibrating madly at 1400-2000 revs. Lesson learned don't buy an after market exhaust.

I have also been thinking what are the tolerances in the dash fitting. I thought heat made plastics and the like expand especially with our temperatures. Conversly with your northern hemishere winters this might compound things?
My WRX during our mild winter would have the dash rattle through the dash shrinking.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Actually throughout the entire car, tolerances are messed with in four seasons climes. From 100F plus in the summer to -0F in the winter, think about it: all that plastic is expanding and contracting and being torqued this way and that on crappy roads, etc. How can ANY car not develop loosening between fitted parts? It's a minor miracle that my car is still quiet as the day she rolled out of the dealership.:P How long will that last?

The basic problem is that the coefficient of expansion is different for metal and all the different types of plastics, rubber, leather, etc.

I have been having what sounds like the HUD rattling. When i place my hand on the frame, the rattle stops. I spoke to the service adviser yesterday and he said to bring it in Monday and they will take the frame off and place some felt tape in there to try to fix it. I'm hoping that helps.

I have this exact same issue. Did you ever fix this?

So the dealer said they placed felt tape and I guess maybe they did because it worked some.
Honestly I took a folded business card; slid it into the space between the frame and the glass, that fixed it completely. I had forgot about it until you quoted my post. I’ll pop the frame off one of these days and add more felt tape.

I slid the card in so far I can’t get it out but you can also BARELY see it unless you are looking for it.

Ah OK great, thanks for getting back. Is the frame held in with clips or a screw? Just trying to work out how to remove it, or if it's best left to the dealer to do.

I let the dealer do it, I’m sure it’s not hard but I don’t want to risk damaging it and having to pay out of pocket to replace it.

2019 GT2 AWD with 13,000 miles - got it five months ago with 8,500 miles on it. My one nit to pick so far is an annoying rattle from somewhere in the dash. I did not notice it the first month or so I had the car but it was late fall and still fairly warm outside, but once the weather got colder, it became more apparent. It is not constant, happens when the road surface is a little rougher and I am accelerating, even slightly. Seems to occur more often when it is colder - now that it is spring, there have been a mix of warmer and colder days - but it is still there even on the warmer days. I pulled the speaker cover on the top of the dash off to see if I could find anything in there that might be loose or unsecured, but did not find anything obvious (and I knew it was a long-shot that the problem would be there but that panel is easy to pull). I've reviewed some DIY videos and write-ups on pulling off the front dash panel and it looks as though that will be necessary. But, won't be able to get to it for a while - my daughter is getting married in two weeks at our house and if I attempt any work on the car (instead of yard and house projects for the wedding) my wife will be extremely displeased. Anyone dealt with a similar issue?
