This is by far the WORST dealership I've ever been to. Bait and switch. Said sales tax included but then omitted from the purchase agreement. Complete waste of time. If you plan to get this car through the lease buyout approach, PLEASE check everything and don't get fooled. I can see easily how they could show someone naive the numbers discussed but then omit things like tax. You will get hit at the RMV after you drive away the car and do the lease buyout, and then there's nothing you can do.

I don't see how Kia as a brand is going to advance into a luxury segment with dealerships like this. The stinger will die with their dealerships. Whether it's dishonesty or plain incompetence, it's just bad.

More lies detailed below.

I went to the dealership, test drove, then negotiated a price. The price I was negotiating was the total cost to own including sales tax. I told them my plans to buyout the lease and I didn't care how they arrived at the final number, I just wanted to know the final number. This simplifies things for me, because they can add whatever stupid fees they want, but to me this would be the actual cost to own. This would be a downpayment + the amount owed on the lease + any fees/taxes. We didn't arrive at a number that I wanted but soon after, the new lease incentives came out that would make it work. So I just asked that they take off the additional lease cash and I would buy it. So I had in writing an offer from them that was 43500 out the door net cost to own. GREAT! I did this all over phone and email on a Thursday. I even put $4000 down to show I was committed. I asked to sign and drive away on Saturday. They said sure sounds great come early. I called my insurance and everything was set to go. Fast forward to Friday at 5PM. I get a message from the sales rep saying that their registry is closed and they can't give me plates for the car until Monday. I'm like WTF because it's not a short drive for me and I had made plans to sell my other car and swap into the new one so I could drive a single car back. It really ruined my plans but at least I thought the price would be fine.

Fast forward to Saturday, I show up, go through the paperwork, talk to the finance manager processing my purchase and she reveals to me that they never deliver cars on the weekend because they don't have an on site registry that can do it. She tells me she has no idea why the salesperson told me that for because she's been there two years and it's always been this way. When I heard that, I got very upset, but ok, at least the price is going to be as was discussed. WRONG.

I was presented some paperwork where the sales tax was written as something like $31. That's not right. That's not 6.25% off the sales price, that's just the lease tax. So I questioned it and then they left the room and other people started getting involved. The sales manager comes in and then says the sales tax is paid to the registry when the title is transferred and I said sure, that's one way to do it, or you could put it on this purchase agreement that you paid the tax. I just wanted them to present me something that is going to result in the agreement we had in writing. So take 43500 and divide by 6.25% and make the adjusted cap cost without tax $40941.18 They said they couldn't do it so I ended up walking out.

To me, the sales price isn't really the problem. The problem is dealing with dishonest AND/OR incompetent people. I'd rather pay another HONEST dealership a higher price than to support a bullshit dealership that wastes time and preys on people that might not know better.

TERRIBLE! Kia Corporate I hope you are reading these reviews. You will truly fail at advancing your image by allowing any incompetent dealership to sell this car.

Sadly, in car selling, there are many incompetent people. Sales managers are sometimes ex-car salesmen and sometimes come from completely different sales backgrounds. Many sales managers only know numbers, they haven't a clue about the cars, nor do far too many salespersons. These morons sit around all day looking out the windows waiting for an "up," or tying balloons on door handles (thus wasting a non-renewable resource - helium) instead of reading their manuals and learning everything about what is needed to sell the car and do the paperwork.

My son-in-law recently bought a Honda Odyssey van in NJ. The nearest dealer had a $140 add-on for "nitrogen-filled tires" which is pure B.S. These dishonest stores desperately need to be reported to Kia Corporate, not that Kia can do much about such nonsense, but because they can put pressure on dealers to be honest and not smear the Kia name.

It's not the car, it is the independent dealership that cares more about quick turnover and profits than in building a long-term relationship with customers. Ditch the dealership, tell everyone you know why you didn't buy the car "locally" and let them reap their just rewards and either learn how to treat customers or begin firing incompetent salespersons.
