USB Port

Android Auto will not control a USB stick, or HDD, If you can't get a phone with expandable storage a good Streaming service is what you need, there are a few that work with Android Auto (Tidal is my go to) or failing that... get a small tablet to run the audio... all that I have seen still have SD card slots

i went to the auto dealer to see the kai again. this time i had a hub etc. to my surprise flac files can be played even from the usb stick directly. as long as they are 16 bit 44 khz. 24 bits were recognised but not played. much to my surprise as well, android auto worked via bluetooth. so i think i can connect my phone via bluetooth and also connect an hdd at the same time. that is so neat.
is there a difference if i play files from phone, via usb conection or via bluetooth connection? does bluetooth connection downgrade file quality? or is it the same if i play a flac file on my phone either with bluetooth connection or usb connection? through android auto of course.
the only thing that puzzled me is that while android auto was showing the apps i had installed for music playback on my phone, i couldnt launch the app through the car screen. i had to launch the app from my phone, and only then i could control the rest via the car screen is this normal? or did i do something funny?

thank you all. bottomline is thart flac playback up to 16 bit and bluetooth of phone in android auto, is very very nice indeed

Most phones today have removable sim card *OR* sd-card for sim 2, and one regular sim 1 tray/position.
So if you need 2 sims, you cannot use a sd card.

Well I'm not a coke dealer so I only need one SIM card...

My USB won't read a memory stick in any format I've tried. I gave up on that; glad it reads my iPods. The wireless charging pad has always worked well.

I have a samsung note 10+ with one of their cases. i have hard time to get the wireless charging in the car to start.
I have removed the rubbery mat, and then i have to "wiggle" the phone around getting it in the just right position, then the wireless charging will stay on for more than a second. :/

Cell phone cases are NOTORIOUS for causing issues with wireless charging. We use wireless chargers in our house, so anything that worked with a home wireless charger worked just fine in the car.

Good day all,

I was wondering if anyone has found a way or device to use to be able to listen to a USB drive (that has music on it) and still have my USB Android auto plugged in at the same time.

I tried using a USB splitter and that did not work.

Regards,

I find it frustrating that I can't use both android auto and an SD card for music . I do have a USB hub that I used in my Fusion Hybrid that works in the Stinger. Insignia memory card reader works fine but is not recognized by voice commands.

Yeah this really sucks. I just bought a new Stinger and traded in my Mazda 6 GT that used to do both Android Auto and USB MP3s through two ports in the center console. I suppose the only solution is to play the mp3s off my phone using the Android app which would be the case when using Google maps for navigation. It would be good if you could use a USB hub but my hub did not work either. Too bad Kia doesn't have the forethought to do like Mazda.

My issue is being able to use bluetooth audio for passengers while using Android Auto. AA just disables bluetooth as an audio source when it's connected, likely to avoid interference with calls. Except that the car can already split the audio sources just fine like when you're listening to the radio but have a call come in. It should be the same with AA, keep bluetooth as an audio source and just cycle between all of them as normal.

I'm not sure if this will solve the issue originally posted, but I pledged for a campaign for a device for adding wireless Android Auto - I'm hopeful it'll work with the Stinger's port, hopefully to start shipping soon.
