Hello all,

After washing my car, I noticed these dark spots on the car that nothing seems to even make the spots lighter; first time noticing these spots since I bought the car in late 2/2020.
The Mothers Clay Kit did absolutely nothing and I am looking for some ideas that would get rid of the sports or at least fade them a bit.
Being that the spots are not rough, raised or grainy with the touch of my finger, I wonder if it is underneath the clear coat and if that is the case then how did the spots get there?
Thank you for your ideas in advance.

Wow!:alien: Clay won't hit it? Then my first step removal (Meg's rubbing compound) won't even wake it up. These weren't there previously? Or did you possibly just not notice them before? If the chance that you didn't notice them is possible, then I'm going to say that these are clear coat flaws and nothing is going to get rid of them. Hopefully I am mistaken.

The way to be sure is not asking opinions here: but go to a detailer pro and get their diagnosis. Locally, I'd be over to Lux Auto Spa today if I saw that on my car.

I have the car since 2/27/20 and have washed the car each week, and today was day one that I noticed it.

I bet that you've gone over the whole thing looking for more of the same. Any spot(s) on the rubber seals/edging in that area?

I just did another walk around of the car, and the rest of the body top to bottom is just fine and dandy, so my only area of issue is the spots from the attached picture.

I had what looks to be the same spots and this stuff removed them in 2 seconds flat. Worth a shot!View attachment 48016
Yep, a good cleaner wax should help.. I use a griots brand cleaner wax and that got some stubborn stuff off our white car that even clay car did not remove.

If you need more. Meguirs ultimate compound. Clear safe. I use it with an orbital on stubborn water spots and scratches whenever I get a new car. Then Polish/seal/wax.

I'll try whatever it takes to fix this issue, but I wish O'Reilleys took back my Mothers clay Kit since they was a total waste of money.

I just wish I did not blow $25.00 on that Mothers Clay Kit since it did nothing at all, and O’Reilleys won’t take it back.

Oh, Mother! At least you have it for "later". This is one of the main ways that a car guy gets in a good assortment of car care products. Hah. :D

Could be tar or something sticky, Gyeon TAR is the answer if that doesn't work you need to use compound to remove the stains, now you know is not a good idea to get too excited next to your Stinger.

Excuse the pun, but those spots run deeper then what was thought of, since I had a detailer look at my car today.
It seems that neither my clay bar, his 50% alcohol, cleaner wax and rubbing compound did anything to even fade those spots.
He is thinking the spots are under the clear coat and to contact Kia which I already have.

But why did they show up now? That is your question and now mine.

Because according to the detailer, the clear coat is starting to fad a bit which is allowing the spots to start to come through.
No matter what, if all the chemicals that I have tried to remove those spots have done squat, the issues for one reason or another are under neath the clear coat.
I’m willing to try some more chemicals, but unless I hear other wise the problem is not on the surface of the car.
The rest of the car is just fine and dandy.

Then they might have to sand it and put clear coat again. Good luck.

Yes sir, that is why I have a case open with Kia to get this worked out; thank you!

Looks a little like sap, which should always be dealt with immediately. I had some eat through my clear and damage the paint on my otherwise flawless '11 370Z. I agree with Ultimate megs compound on a microfiber and hard circular motions, then dual action orbital (Porter Cable 7424XP $115 helluva bargain, megs Mirror Glaze DM105 heavy cut compound yellow or orange pad, next megs Mirror Glaze DM205 white hex pad, then sealant. Hit youtube for DA orbital instruction videos. Try the junkman2000 that's how I started and now I detail like a pro.

Thank you for the information.
These stains as I have said before seem to be underneath the clear coat since a detailer could not budge the stains at all with cleaner wax, rubbing compound, 50% alcohol and my clay bar.
The stains as well can not be felt with the touch of a finger, so no raised areas, bubbling, roughness or graininess feelings what so ever.
