Earlier this year I fitted the rear brace and then the mid brace. It seemed a logical progression to eventully fit the front brace. I live in Sydney and local importer is a mob called Cherry Tuning. They are nice people and my dealings with them have been very easy. About 2 weeks ago I ordered the front brace. I prefer to fit things were I can, have already fitted the sway bars, exhaust etc. I manage with a jack and jack stands. The undertray near the trasmission has to come off and in fact needs a little trimming but then it is the easiest of the 3 to install. 2 bolts at the rear of the front suspension and 2 more behind the trasmission. Before it fitted it I noticed the bagde with the part number had CK 2017+ and 4WD on it and that the 2 back legs were uneven in length. This was certainly different to the picture at the website. The 4WD version was never brought into Australia. I attempted to fit it only to discover the shorter of the 2 rear legs didn't align with a bolt, the other 3 did exactly as was my experience with the other braces. Fortunately i was on holidays so I went to Cherry Tuning to sort it out. The fellow there checked the part number, said that was correct, assured me they had fitted them succesfully and that their current stocks were all the same as mine.
He offered that they could fit it for me ($130) but I declined thinking at this stage I had missed some sort of trick so I headed home to have another go. No way could I get this to fit, without making a plate that ran between the 2 bolts this arm was in the middle of and then bolting it to that plate but of course this shoudn't be necessary. So, I rang them to book it in for fitting the next morning. I left the car and went to the local shopping centre to kill time for an hour and await their call. 1:45 later I hadn't heard anything so I returned only to be told it wouldn't fit. Surprise, surprise. All of their stock are for the 4WD version and the reason for the shorter leg relates to the front drive shaft out that side of the trasmission.
They have since told me the replacements will be in their next shipment due in about 2 weeks. What surprised the mechanic I spoke with the second time is they've sold a few of them and had no feedback or complaints, I am curios as hell to understand what people have been doing. Making up a plate? Leaving one end hanging? Perhaps I will never know.
