Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find a trailer hitch for my 2018 Stinger GT2. The main brands are all back ordered.
I need it for my MTB carrier. New or used would be fine. Please let me know.

Welcome. I moved this topic out of the community lounge and into the Stinger Exterior forum...

Are you anywhere near me..(Toronto East)

I literally have a spare, but I'm not willing to ship.

I had to wait quite a few months for my drawtite to show up, but it eventually did. Etrailer was pretty good about keeping me informed/updated.

Hi DJ,

No, I live in California.
I wish I lived closer so I could buy the hitch from you.
Thanks for the info.

Damn, I'm in Canada too but Edmonton Alberta unfortunately, I almost shite myself seeing your post since I've been searching non-stop for months for a damn tow hitch to install on my Stinger but your not looking to ship sadly lol. I been messaging every single tow hitch company going thru all the hoops when they show its available but in reality discontinued and no stock when contacted directly. I want a tow hitch for the Stinger so bad I'm considering driving down there from Edmonton to get it lol...

Is there anyway to contact you directly? I don't see a DM option on this forum? Just want to see if we can figure something out, because I'd really love to take that hitch of your hands somehow :P

Just curious, how long ago was this? Everywhere I've looked the drawtite stinger hitch has been discontinued and out of stock :(

Sorry to burst your hopes but.....

A more local forum member close to me came by and picked it up the other weekend... (Sorry).

I even had the original sealed bag of hardware + instructions.

I think I received it something around now last year. I had put in the order around mid-summer.

Thanks, wow thats pretty recent, what crappy timing on my part, seems as soon as I got my Stinger last year and started my master plan of getting a hitch this year they go ahead and discontinue the damn thing and its nowhere to be found, not even old stock I been scouring the net for months.... Can I ask where did you find yours?

Sorry I just had to ask how did you even end up with two of these elusive hitches? lol.

Since you guys have experience with Stinger hitches I'm desperate enough to considering custom installing multi-fit hitches since this is all I can find so far and its easy to get from amazon. I know its probably hard to say for sure but any idea if this style design will fit a Stinger? Based on your installs/hitch design? An advantage going with this is also that it has a higher tongue and trailer weight at 300lbs/3500lbs. My work has access to a shop that does welding and metal work so I feel I might be able to modify to fit. The Stinger is a pretty low car relatively and fitting around the exhaust etc seems like the tricky parts. I might be better off getting a hitch made from scratch.

Sigh since I can't post links/pics yet this is the part if you google it.

Absolutely fair question...

If it didn't happen to me, I would have had a difficult time believing it.... But I have pictures from 2018 that will make it all clear..

I'll post the story shortly, with pics.

Ok - here's the story.

I bought this hitch when it first came out - and was one of the first people in Canada to get it.
me and a buddy went to his shop one Saturday to install ourselves (it's not too difficult with 2 people)
after removing the bumper cover and getting 50% competed - we discovered that I had received a factory defect (2 holes were not drilled).
not really a showstopper for me, cause I know how to drill 2 holes... but I was very disappointed and sent a "strongly worded email" to Drawtite.

The one on my car today is the one that I drilled the holes into.

Drawtite was actually pretty good about the whole thing and they shipped me out a FULL replacement of the whole kit, despite me not really asking for that. (that is how I came to posses a complete spare kit.

these pics from when I installed (and had to drill the holes).
Of the 2 sides -the right side bracket was correct, with 3 required holes. The left side bracket was missing 2 of the 3 holes. I had to mark and drill the missing holes.

And I had to modify mine, some of the holes were not spaced wide enough apart, width wise as relating to the car orientation. I believe it was the square-looking holes. Had to get out the dremel.

Lol that is awesome thanks for the detailed post, I'm glad it all worked out for you and that Drawtite supported you. I actually remember seeing your original posts now that you explained it way back when I first got my Stinger and dived into the forums :) Too bad someone snatched the spare up, I was really hopeful seeing how these posts were only a few weeks ago lol.

Awesome seeing the Stinger in the parking lot with a bunch of pickup trucks and their trailers, really makes me happy to see an awesome capable sports car like the Stinger being enjoyed like that. I have some ambitious plans for the Stinger and this trailer hitch is the huge hold up point.

How much did the hitch cost for you with shipping and everything? I'm wondering because I feel I've exhausted all my daily searches and now realize this may be the best solution, to buy a european tow hitch which also matches the higher European Stinger tow specs, it also has a fancier hidden hitch design too which somewhat makes up the higher cost along with the higher tow ratings which may come in handy.

This is the model that I found from Etowbars.com, which costs about $1300 with free shipping to Canada thankfully.

Any thoughts on this model hitch?

It was $261.94CAD. Before taxes from a local trailer shop New and Used Trailer Sales and Service Ontario Jensen Trailers

They are near me, so no shipping, just 13% sales tax in Ontario.

Total was $295.99CAD. But this was in 2019.

Dang thats a good deal... Lol. Anyways like I mentioned I guess the extra $1000 gets me a few worthwhile improvements, namely the increased tow capacity. The online install manual looks very high quality and in depth so that also gives me some confidence. But main thing.... IN STOCK! (in Europe) :)

How are you liking the Stinger + Trailer hitch? Do you use it often? I'm guessing the motor bike + trailer is the heaviest thing you tow with the Stinger? Or have you towed anything else?

I'm going to let out the cat from the bag, I'm hoping to tow one of those smaller enclosed utility cargo trailers similar to the ones the pickup trucks in your pictures had that were probably also hauling bikes inside. The base weight is just over 1000lbs but I plan to add some features that will probably bring it closer to 1500lbs which is near the drawtite max I think.

Most I've towed is probably 2 x 450cc dirtbikes on the trailer in the photos.

Effortless towing, literally. Not an issue and the brakes are ample and adequate on my experience.

Never weighted it, but probably 1200lbs fully laden in my case.

I have used the trailer for a variety of things, but nothing heavier than 2x dirtbikes yet.
