I'm looking for a place that has touch up paint in a nail polish jar. The supplied touch up pen is all but useless.

If you are looking to repair rock chips, check out www.Drcolorchip.com

They have a system to make the touch up smoother than trying to use a pen or brush.

I have always used the products from automotivetouchup that @StingerGT68 listed above. I have HiChroma Red and they didn't have it listed for the Stinger but I gave them the code and they matched it perfectly. Perfect paint color match. Also get a bottle of clear coat if you want. If they don't have the color listed, contact them and they'll add it to the list.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Do we know if the 2019 Snow White Pearl is the same as 2018?

Dumb question: How do you find the color code?

Dr. Colorchip does not ship to Canada, but PaintScratch does. I ordered my paint from them as a two stage (plus clear as well). It takes some practice and finesse due to the two stage application, but the results are night and day better than the pens.

Can anyone show images or share experience with Dr Colorchip kits? Especially in HiChroma red. I've got some color chips and want to fill them. This kit looks good for the price and all of the review videos I have seen were positive.

Mainly curious b/c Dr Colorchip has you acknowledge that it may not be a 100% match to the 3-stage OEM paint:

Wondering how far off they could be? I imagine it's tough to match the pearl coat.

I can't speak on Dr Colorchip's match for the Stinger's colors, but I did order it for my Mustang when I had it (Magnetic Metallic). The pen from Ford was a bit lighter than the paint, but Dr. Colorchip was a bit darker than the paint, so neither was a perfect match. I had thought about mixing the two and it might have been the closest match lol.

I think the Stinger's colors are hard because it is tri-coat. That means rather than a more basic paint which is just color coat, then clear, it is flat base color, then a tinted "pearl" coat with the metallic flakes, then clear, that's why the single stage pens don't match. I know the Kia pens are hot garbage, but I don't think the Dr. Colorchip will be perfect, maybe just "better." I bought the tri coat kit from PaintScratch which has the base coat and tinted clear coat that you apply in that order, but it's tricky to use, I only had a near perfect match from 1 of 10 tries, but it's been way better on average than the terrible Kia pens.

Got the same kit. Gonna try to tackle the gash on my stinger nose tomorrow.

Talk about good timing! Is this your first time using this product? I have always used the pens on previous cars, but usually with little success.

Please share some before/after photos when you're done.

Yes, first time using. 10 tries! What was so hard about the process? Any tips before I start? Will post pics here on my progress.

There are several videos on YouTube on how to touch up using a special tool. This works like a charm. As I posted above, I get my color from automotivetouchup.com and use this tool which you can get on Amazon. Here is just one of the videos.

I have had very good success with Dr ColorChip for 3 colors now. My first was with my Sedona Red Pearl Subaru WRX where the paint chipped like crazy (hundreds of chips). Perfect match. Second was on my Snow White Pearl Optima - again, practically invisible unless you're really looking closely. Third was on my wife's Sedona, which is a champagne silver, although I don't think that's the official paint name. Once you get the technique down, it's a really simple system that doesn't require any sanding or polishing to make it smooth.

Also, when I worked at a Hyundai dealership, the body shop used Dr ColorChip to repair any dings from test drives.

I'm a perfectionist so I can see the color difference, most would not even when looking at the car.

As for how to apply, make sure you get enough thickness on the base color first, and apply the tinted clear coat in THIN LAYERS because if you get too much tinted clear down, it will not match the color of the surrounding paint. I suggest using a piece of plastic (I think they give you one) to do some tests before actually doing it on the car. I think the real trick is again those very light layers of tinted clear until you get it just right. It'll get darker with each layer.

Many thanks!!! Wish me luck!
