The worst thing about the Stinger for me.

I have had my Stinger for about 8 months. I have enjoyed owning this car immensely. This is the first car where I have been doing some "mods" to it and doing my own general maintenance. However the worst part of this car is my OVERWHELMING URGE to always drive it. I have put way to many miles on this damn thing. Up until yesterday this has been my only vehicle which I have been using for my work commute and for my weekend fun and usually a few days during the week fun. I bought a 2016 Chevy Volt that I can use for my commute and save all the miles on my Stinger for all the fun (the dealership I went to delivered the car to me for a test drive, sanitized it and after I made my decision we took care of the financials online and over the phone).I will also be able to save some money on gas too as I can charge up at work. 53 miles of EV range is more that enough to get me to work and back. I won't feel as guilty going on long drives with the Stinger if I can save tons of miles on it during the week for boring commutes in traffic.

Have you guys struggled staying out of the driver seat with this car? I have spent countless hours looking for roads around me that are fun to drive and I have found a few that I love. All the cars I have driven before have strictly been a tool to get me to work and to grocery stores and occasionally weekend excursions. Now my car has become the fun. It's quite a different picture.

I have driven a volt and I really like that car. set of rims, some tint and it looks pretty good in certain colors. that being said, I agree with you. up until the mrs took the keys and proclaimed to all that the stinger was hers, I loved driving my stinger. like when you were 17 and were given a P.O.S. you drove the wheels off of that thing. need milk? you drove nine states over to get it straight from the farm. oh, you need a lift to the mall? you drove from ny to mall of America. its a road trip. I heard that dr pepper on the west coast tasted better than the east coast. you were smokey and the bandit without the smokey. if you were lucky. enjoy driving either car. like I told some 20 something hardbody years ago who asked me why I didn't drive a prius, didn't it bother me that I was killing the spotted dodo bird because I was driving a big block camaro with open headers. I replied, do you have a prius? she said yes, I said good, that means that there is more fuel for me . muahahahahahahahahahahahahaa

So, what are you "allowed" to drive now? :D

Yes. I have to hold myself back from just getting in and going for a drive. Some days are harder than others. Lately, with the pandemic nonsense, it is increasingly hard to just sit in front of this stupid device instead of behind the wheel of my Stinger. Now that yardwork is here, that helps occupy some hours. But when it's time to get in some groceries and other necessaries I am glad to run the errands because I get to drive. :)

It's funny how people view cars differently. I boughty my stinger to make my commute suck less. I can't imagine buying a lesser car just to make the stinger a garage queen, but maybe that's because I don't travel much.

I put 2500mi per month on her, and when she croaks I'll be sad, but it's a machine not a stamp collection.

Oh don't get me wrong, it's not going to stay at home every day. If the forecast is crappy weather it's definitely going to be the "lesser car" but if it's going to be 85 and sunny on a Friday, you are damn sure i'm going to take my Stinger. However sitting in stop and go traffic from where I work to home is not fun in the stinger when the only thing I want to do is slam the go pedal. There are no sweeping roads, it's red light, 300 feet, red light all the way home haha. I want to save the miles on the car now so in the future I can put on some big chunks. I would love to drive some roads out West, I live on the east coast.

I definitely enjoy driving mine! I needed a car that was going to be both sporty and comfy for long distances, and it's honestly one of the best of both worlds. I have been working from home for a month so I've basically only been taking it to the grocery store lately, but I definitely want to go find some more mountain roads to carve up.

I'm definitely understanding where you're coming from. I've only had my Stinger a little over a month, so it's all still fairly new and fresh. But I find myself LOOKING for reasons to drive. I drove literally across town the other day for a Tim's, even though I have one less than 5 minutes away. It's just fun to be behind the wheel of the car, even in basic, mundane drives through the city.

I have a short commute to work and back so I have been coming up with reasons to go places just to drive it a little longer. I have the 2.0t AWD but it is still a ton of fun and rides so nice, I was super impressed when I test drove it.

My shift at work today started at around 5am. Virtually no traffic on the highway (I think I passed a single truck on the way in). Took the opportunity to open it up a bit. No surprise here, but I'm definitely going to need to go to a track with this thing soon, so I can REALLY see what it can do, without risking losing my license or car. lol

a 2019 scat pack 392 challenger, but there is a stable of cars that I own. its the stinger I had been eagerly awaiting to be introduced,

even stamp collection is just an old stamp. everything in perspective. every old car out there commanding millions of dollars was someones daily driver at one point and was lucky enough to have been kept in a garage or a barn. yes, you are correct that it is a tool meant to be used, but damn that car is sharp. personally, I would be more upset if my stinger got wrecked than my scat pack.

I get the sentiment and I'm definitely in the "cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed" crowd, but there's plenty of old garage queens that have been garage queens their entire lives. Hell a couple years ago I checked Bring A Trailer and there was a '99 S2000 on there with less than 1000 miles. The owner had bought it, took it for a spin a few times and then straight to a climate-controlled garage, and locked it away for 20 years. And that's not even an "old" car but there's plenty more where that came from. And that's not even counting race cars, prototypes, and other one-offs. Some people get more enjoyment out of owning and trading things than truly experiencing them.

I'm definitely in the "go before show" category - I don't care if my car gets dirty, doesn't get washed for a few weeks/months (I bought ceramic silver for a reason), etc. But it better be fast when I want it to be!

I mean, sure - would I mind having a mint Stinger for sale in 20 years? No - but I'm getting more enjoyment out of driving it right now. I don't see it turning into a $250K+ type of collectible, but who knows..

I bought a salvage title because I don't want to keep it in a garage all the time. Also I don't have the 45-50k for a new one lol.

Totally Guilty!!:)
My GT is an absolute addiction. It’s hard to describe the experience to my friends. If time allows, I always take the long way, if not the super-extended long way. Low cost of fuel really not helping matters much!
Lol

the mrs and I had spoken about purchasing another yellow stinger because of the rarity, but in the end, it would just sit. now, all these garage finds and trailer queens that have been sitting are a p.i.t.a. when it comes time to restore them, what with rubber fuel lines rotting away and interior trim pieces, etc. but these new cars, who knows what will happen when the electronics crap out. I had read an article in the new York times car section about how Hagerty has declared these to be the next big collectible and I had seen an ad in, I think it was dupont registry, about a yellow stinger with 1500 miles for sale in Connecticut for sale in the 80 grand range. and it had the factory repaint like mine. hell, if that is the case and someone comes up to me and offers me 80+ for it, would consider it. I think the mrs might clock me upside the head with a louiseville, but it kind of makes you feel good when people are considering our car as a collectible to be.

Oh yes - the Stinger GT is pure bliss when behind the wheel.
Smooth, strong, velvety & refined.
It's like a very masculine man with a smooth demeanour in a fine suit.

The Koreans must be very proud of this accolade deserving achievement .

I’m guilty as well, I’ve never owned a car that gives so much pleasure to drive.
I’ve done a lot of good driving roads in & around Sydney, up north, down south & west, I just cannot get enough of being in this car.
The worst thing is that this car is addictive.

I'm starting to get suspicious. Is it possible that along with the piped in enhanced engine sound, there is a subliminal track that says something like, "You love me; drive me; drive me fast; you know you love it; drive me long and fast and hard" Etc. :D
