It’s now confirmed

I wouldn't say the stinger is dead until they stop making them entirely. that looks to be a solid year away.

Another interesting article.

That press release is the first official word from KIA USA that the Stinger will be officially discontinued. This line specifically in the first paragraph says it all... I can't imagine they are going to produce too many more Stingers in 2023 as they wind production down.

the Tribute Edition pays homage to Kia’s high-performance vision, and celebrates the Stinger sedan’s significant contribution to the brand since its introduction in 2017, as production of the groundbreaking model comes to an end.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
ah mm yes indeed thank you for the timely announcement KIA. because my amazon cart, aliexpress cart, and ebay cart all weren't full enough for christmas. i'll just fill up the kiapartsnow.com cart up now too...

This type of car is going extinct in 2023

Even fox is covering it... Long live ICE!!!
I got to read this article earlier and found it pretty interesting but somewhat unbelievable. If it is the end of the road for performance sedans that would mean the M3 is also out the door? I know the article mostly talked about the Stinger which by all means is at the end of its run but I have a hard time believing every manufacturer will be ditching the performance sedan in the next year or two.

ice burning fossil fuels will die out only when an alternate fuel becomes better by every measure. hydrogen? mr. fusion? we don't know. but evs are not the answer. the fact that kia is only going to produced less than five thousand of their new halo ev for next year is evidence that their "all in" approach to evs is conservative, waiting for the real switch from fossil fuels while preserving the already taxed power grids of the world. as for sedans, they will always be a body style that appeals to a subset of car owners. and performance vehicles appeal to a subset within that subset and always will while cars drive the open road.

We got hit by an arctic cold snap starting last night. Over night it got down to -9F. Unusual for this area. Today winds were upwards of 50+ mph. They were talking about massive power outages throughout the region. I'm sure there were. Fortunately we stayed lit the whole time.

What happens when an EV is stuck in traffic in a winter blizzard.... Also, batteries don't do that well at these temps.

I guess it will be the same if you run out of petrol while stuck in traffic & there is a massive power outage….your stuffed.
Agree about the batteries though, lithium ion does not like cold weather.

^^Not going anywhere in the next few days. Car's been on the tender since 2 days ago. I do agree about running out of petro too. Years ago, some bus blocked all lanes on LSD. Cars couldn't go anywhere.

Hi all--I'm just seeing this news. Really love my '19 GT, but I've been thinking how I'd love the added features of a GT2.

Is anyone concerned by the end of life of the Stinger? Any reason to be hesitant to purchase a Stinger knowing this?

Thx!

Nope. Pretty much all sedans and coupes are going away in the next few years, so get 'em while you can.

They may be less popular than before but they aren't going away. There's actually quite a few already selling or soon to be released from BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, Hyundai, Genesis, Kia, Tesla, Lexus, Nissan (okay, Nissan may go away), Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, Chevy...

...that's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are many I'm forgetting. Point is, there are North of 60 models I can think of that are still kicking or about to be released.

You have more hope than I do.

no hesitancy here. Ima stinger fanboy. planning on leasing one last time brand new sometime this year. it it ends up being a tribute edition fine but I won't pay anything more than normal price for one. not looking for one either. it'd just have to be a chance meeting when I'm ready. no way of knowing at this point when that might be. but definitely not sooner than 3 months.

You have more hope than I do.

Just look at what's available or coming soon...

First company on my list above,

BMW: New 2 series released last year. New 4 series released last year. New 7 series released last year. New 5 series being released next year. The 3, 8, and Z are still for sale.

Audi: Etron GT released last year. New 3 released two years ago. New 4/5 to be released later this year. New 6 to be released later this year. The 7, 8, TT, and R8 are still for sale.

That's 16 sedans or coupes from just the first two manufacturers I mentioned. And I didn't even count the sub-variants of each (S4, RS7, M3, I7, M5, etc). Those two manufacturers alone will be producing over 30 sedans and coupes into next year.

I agree, but large rear wheel drive sedans/coupes powered by gasoline have about completely disappeared from the mainstream brands and moved into luxury brands only.

There is a future going forward for this size of car that is rear wheel drive based, but it will be luxury brand driven and increasingly electrified.

Maybe I'm just a bloody ray of sunshine here, but I lusted after the Stinger for awhile and finally got one this past summer.

I'm just glad I was able to get one!
