That licence plate in front

What about that licence plate in front? Does the Stinger look better without it?

Many cars/trucks, it doesn't detract much if at all from the looks. While I was awaiting the delivery of my car, I was looking over the other Stingers on the lot and in the showroom. Some, I noticed, had licence plate frames in front, some didn't: and suddenly I was worried that mine would have a licence plate frame in front. But I was so relieved when my salesman arrived back at the dealership with the traded Stinger, and it was "clean". In Utah we are only required by law to have one plate. Most single plates are facing the rear.

Are you required by law where you live to have a licence plate in front? If not, and you have the option to remove it, would you, or will you, have it taken off and the holes filled in? Or do you think that the "tiger-nose grille" is okay with a plate in its mouth?

I've always preferred a plate less look. I think it takes away from the design of the car. So I've always removed them ;)

Not required here, I think it spoils the look of many cars. I read a story about a guy who found a dealer vanity plate on the front of his new purchase, had them replace the entire bumper cover!

Utah actually 'requires' 2 plates, look up Utah 41-1a-404. There was an attempt in 2012 to defeat that, but it didn't pass.

Thankfully, it can only be pursued as a secondary action: IE, they can't pull you over for it, but if they stop you for something else, they can ticket you if you don't have one. That being said, a good ~20-30% of cars in Utah don't have that front plate, and I doubt you'd get a ticket for it unless you've pissed the cop off. If I get pulled over and it's mentioned, I'll tell the cop that it's a lease, and I don't want to get fined for drilling holes in it. Lol.

Mine didn't (thank god) but CA requires them. I see on the front they're several small indentations. I'm assuming thats where you'd mount if you were drilling in. Can someone confirm?

Well, I'll be swizzled! I only live here. The information I have received is erroneous. Aaagain. I do try to not annoy cops when we cross paths. The pleasant approach, helping the officer do his job, is the best policy: and that is probably why I didn't get cited the two times I've been pulled over already for speeding.

Yes. Those are the drilling spots alright.

Yup, the dealer should have given you a plastic mount. That aligns with the starter holes in the bumper. The actual license aligns with the starter holes in the mount. Sadz, it looks so nice with out the plate and my dealer hadn’t mounted the mount so I got to rut it a couple of weeks clean. Now it’s not.

Oh and no drilling. The “wood” screws (larger bit pattern) in the mount kit will self tap. That way no over drilling. Just a little elbow grease and they will set in tight.

Took my dealer maybe 10 minutes for install It don't look a whole lot worse than some of the relocation brackets and plates that I have seen on the net

I'm in California. I had to sign a waiver so that the dealer didn't install front plate mounting bracket and I went with the Slybrackets.com solution.

nylaw- that's what i did. works well. i live chicago not that risky. i think certain parts of indiana dont even require plates.

I'm in California and it is required, however the dealership had me sign the waiver and i was very happy.
Until they brought my car around and they installed that fugly license plate in the front. Dealership fail.
i would love to take it off, but then i am afraid i would have holes in the front where they screwed that god awful license plate bracket in.

interesting i've always told the dealers i buy from in cali to not put the license plate on and they listen... no waivers, nothing.

AU Stingers also come factory with a black plastic plate already fitted to mount the license plate, we have no choice, you decide how it looks.

mine came with the bracket mounted, but I removed it.
can you post a pic?
Were there any holes from the mounting?
