Hello all,
Getting my mods next week Which include Injen intkes, snorkels, Mishimoto catch can, Add 1. Heat shields, Eibach sway bars and JB4 with PNP wire harness/ Bluetooth. I am somewhat new to the JB4 other than what I have been reading and researching. I am trying to figure out What fuels I can use to get to the Map 4. I will run mostly in Map 1 and if I find 93 octane Map 2. Now I do have access to Sunoco GTX 260. I also have access to 100 octane pump race fuel but I have not verified it’s unleaded yet. Will check a couple spots tomorrow. We are near and area that has a lot of offroad racing. With that all said, Can I run the Sunoco GTX 260 and mix it with 91? Or the 100 octane and mix that with 91? Does anyone out there have the proper mixture to get these fuels to say 95-96 octane ? At 95-96 octane level is it cool to run Map 3 ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Man, you've asked these questions in several threads and have gotten answers to most of them.

As for your dilemma about leaded/unleaded gas. I'm not sure where you live but most of the world has banned the sale of unleaded gas at pumps. There's only a very small handful of countries still selling leaded at gas pumps.

Yeah your right but your answers were not very cLear so trying to reach a different audience! Is that a crime on this thread ? You didn’t reply about sonoco GTX 260 did you ? Or maybe I missed it. Try to be not so critical with a newbie. I really do not know your reliability either and like to take multiple answers before I do anything g that could cause damage. I mean really you could be a 15 year old kid with snot hanging off your nose for all I know. Thanks for replying and will look back to see if I missed anything.

The Sunoco website has a fuel finder where you can find which gas stations sell various Sunoco fuels at the pump in your area. As for mixing, a 50/50 mix of 91 and the GTX 260 will net you about 94.5 octane while 50/50 mis of 91 and 100 octane will net about 95.5. If you want to increase the octane of either mix, use more race fuel and less 91. E30 mixes are about 99 octane.

Nobody on here can tell you 100% if you can run map 3 on 95-96 octane. Only way to find out is to make your mix and log a sufficient run while on map 3.

I'll give you that. I could have been a bit less rude in my response and I apologize for that.

Couldn't tell you anything regarding mixing fuels, etc to get specific octane.

I am pretty sure you can use high octane fuels (100+) straight and without a tune as long as it's actual gasoline and not high ethanol blends unless your car is tuned to handle the ethanol.

Quick google search regarding leaded/unleaded fuels shows that you can't get leaded fuels since last year.

Thanks again for your reply. From your recommendation I looked for some calculators on fuel ratios and found a couple that were helpful. Next week I get, Eibach sway bars, Injen intakes with snorkels, Mishmoto catch can, JB4 with PNP harness and bluetooth. Some other vanity items. I also did find E85 about 20 miles from me. Need to verify it is actually there, but will try two to three gallons to a tank of 91. That should get me around 93.5 and I am assuming I can do map three with that?

not worth it unless your gonna run 100% race fuel... otherwise just use e30 mix... and the 5 gallons pals of gtx 260 are lik 90-100 bucks..

I only have access to 91 and E85. From what I’ve read it works fine

Thank y

Thank you for the reply. What octane should I need to run map three ?

IMHO, if you are going that far with the mods, then I would suggest getting the fuel-it flex fuel kit so you can get a reliable E30 mix by mixing E85 with either 91 or 93 octane. For sure you can run map3 and likely map4.
I was on the fence for a while, but I finally decided to try it. I had tried mixing 100 unlead to get maybe a 95/96 result, but I still didn't like the timing corrections in the jb4 logs, even on only map 2. Not to mention the cost of $10/gal (this was a year ago, haven't even priced it lately). My best time was 13.2@108 in the 1/4mile.
This year, after switching to E30 on map3, my best time is 12.5@112, with very few timing corrections. While I have a couple other mods since then, I think the majority of the improvement is simply E30, these engines really run great with it. Not to mention it is WAY cheaper than 100 octane.
