Strange problem

Hi all,

Yesterday I had a strange issue when I shut off the car (engine off, lights all off) I step out of my car and noticed there seems to be something running under the hood. It sounded like my radiator fan didn't turn off. Popped the hood and engine was off but the fan was still going. Went back into the car started it up again then shut down and then the fan turned off with the rest of the car. Anyone else had a similar issue?

Yes. This has been mentioned before (been a while, though). The fan will run x=amount of time (not long) after shutoff, or not, depending.

if your car is hot, the fan will run for a while after shutoff. Common for me when I drive aggressively in sport mode and then shit the car off

Sounds normal. Are you in a hot climate, car used in stop and go traffic, ac running? All of those may cause the fan to run for a period of time after car is shut off.

Being a turbo, I always idle the car at least a minute after coming to a stop before shutting it down.

Was probably hot, didn't drive it too aggressively this time but it was a little warm (70s) yesterday.

Was in the 70s yesterday, probably that. AC wasn't running at that time. I'll let it Idle for a little next time. Just found it strange since I had the 2.0 for a whole year before I upgrade to the 3.3 and it never did that even in the summer.

The 3.3 is a bigger engine with 2 turbos so it produces a lot more heat. What you described in your first post is totally normal, it's a safety measure to cool the engine even after it has shut off. It will only happen sometimes depending on engine temp and ambient temps.
