Something i have observed in reading countless Stinger threads are people indicating Stinger is too big etc to ever be considered a track day car. Not made to be track car etc. Having lots of time behind wheel. 9000 miles on twisty Nor cal roads and several fast autocross events I’m not so convinced this car wouldn’t do just fine on track. Especially if it was treated to set of coilovers and wider tires. Car has all bones to make good track car if you just wanted to have fun at local track day.
Out of curiosity I pulled out my handy dandy Numbers spreadsheet on my iPad and grabbed a few cars stats. Those that have track cred and then those cars I often hear Stinger compared to like big Porsh Panamera . To my surprise Stinger is no where close to a Panamera in size and weigh and in fact my GT2 RWD is more close to Camaro ZL1 in both size and weight. And whoa it’s down right small compared to two door Dodge Challenger Hellcat!
Heck compared to M3 it’s not all that much bigger. Couple inches in front and back and very similar wheelbase. A GT on a diet would be awfully close to an M3 from size and weight perspective. I for one will likely drag Stinger out to Laguna Seca one of these days with more of a track prep to see what it can do. Wish more would join in!
And gosh wish Kia would do a shortened lighter weight two door of this car ......we need a $35k supercar!
