I bought a 2023 Stinger GT2 almost 2 years ago and I love it. What are everyone's thoughts on that car vs 3.0 Supra? I didn't want a BMW so I didn't get tbe Supra ...

Supra is a much better platform for speed and handling, it's a sports car and the Stinger is a gran turismo. It really depends what you need the car for though, Stinger is available in AWD so it can be an all weather car and it has tons of cargo space.

If you sit in one you'll know pretty quick. I saw a few Supras zipping round the track one day and was curious, but as soon as I sat down I knew it wasn't for me. It was like one of those experimental supersonic aircraft. Very low profile, windshield is a narrow slit, seat is tight and cramped, I got a sense of mild claustrophobia. Not to mention storage space is sparse.
It's an absolute weapon on the track, but as a daily driver there's no way I'd share a road with trucks and SUVs in that thing.
To me it's impractical as an only vehicle, and if I were getting something fun to compliment my SUV etc I'd look for something with a convertible option.

all I needed to know about the Supra I learned by opening the "trunk" only to find that a carry-on wouldn't even fit through the opening. I agree with ElChanclo, that's not a daily driver.

I actually thought seriously about getting a Supra. I test drove one with the larger V6 engine. It was quick, definitely a true sports car. The turn offs though one was the interior. I think the GR86 has a nicer one. The infotainment system is lame. The digital gauge cluster was also uninspiring. (The one in my Volvo was way better). And the steering wheel was ridiculously thin. And not to mention the poor visibility and buffering issue with the windows open. And, for that price point a car with every vent fake. Nope. Not for me.

I had a C7 Corvette Stingray at the time and glad I stayed with the Vettes. Ended up getting a 2019 Grand Sport C7.

I've been very interested ing the GR Supra, but cross shopping it with Stinger is a stretch. I love our Stingers, but it is too heavy and long wheelbase to be a proper sports car.

That said, I'd I were to be in the market for a bonafide sports coupe, Nissan Z would rank higher on my list than the Supra. The Z might be based an older platform, but it has been iteratively refined over the generations. It also means the aftermarket support is phenomenal. The double wishbone front alone is worth the price of admission. It is a better driver's car than the GR, which is essentially a Z4 with different sheet metal and a roof.

Don't those Supra's have terrible wind buffeting with the window's open. That would be enough for me to look elsewhere.

With modern vehicle aerodynamics, buffeting at speed with windows open is not uncommon. Regardless, I rarely open any of my windows while driving. On the fwy, wind/road noise becomes unbearable with open windows. Besides, 6 months out of the year, running AC is a necessity. Then another 2-3 months, pollen get so thick many streets turn greenish yellow. I'd much rather keep my cabin air well filtered and conditioned.

About the only time I have to roll down windows is at AutoX/track when rules dictate open windows. On track, helmets are required, so any buffeting effect isn't as pronounced.

Horrible buffeting. When I took one on a test drive that blew me away. I know there are some aftermarket fixes for that.

Funny thing, don't have that issue at all in my C7 Corvette which is also a 2 seater. And also every vent in the Vette is fully functional!

I dump my windows and open the moonroof while driving if the air temp is over 65. That would definitely be a nonstarter for me. Reminds me of the 04 Impala we had. The kids would drop a window in the back and our eardrums would rupture.

Thanks all for the responses ... I appreciate it. I love LOVE my car and I enjoy driving a car that is simply not that common. I have had it for almost 2 years and I only have 10,200 miles.
