My wife has been missing her Mercedes E350 she totalled at the beginning of the year. I was not about to replace the Stinger GT2 we just bought in January, it is too good of a car and I love the way it drives. So I found a 2016 SL400 that is certified and has only 17,800 miles and with distronic adaptive cruise control, park assist, blind spot warning and a retractable hardtop. I traded in my Corvette and my wife is happy again.

Congrats! I've seen a lot of reviews say that Benz has the best adaptive cruise control in the industry. I'd be curious to know what you think of it compared to Kia. It's crazy to think that they introduced it into their fleet in 1999.
I tested a few implementations when I was doing research and found that Honda/Toyota/Acura/Lexus had the worst implementation, and BMW and Tesla had the best. Hyundai/Kia was in the middle. Never had a chance to try Distronic as it was very rare to find in the dealer's lot.
Just the Corvette not the wife. To answer a few of the queries about the MB tech vs. Kia, the adaptive cruise may be a little smoother operating and the lane keep assist is less intrusive, but the ventilated seats do not work as well as the Stinger's.
Mercedes are very reliable, but routine maintenance is expensive and parts are pricey. As long as you take good care of them, they tend to take good care of you. Our last mercedes we owned for nearly ten years. It only stranded us when the battery needed to be replaced and Mercedes sent a van out with a new battery to replace the one that died.
The Stinger is appearing to be the better vehicle between the two. The ventilated seats on the SL400 do not seem to do much of anything and the seat does not go back for easy entry and exiting the car. A few other features on the SL seem to be iffy and it is more difficult to work through menus, etc. The SL drives nice but no better than the Stinger and it has less power. Zero to sixty is only 5.1 seconds. The brakes create so much black dust, I have had to order some dustless pads to replace the factory ones. So the SL400 is still a great car, but the Stinger works better. My wife who is not a fan of the Stinger, told me she likes the interior of the Stinger better than the SL.

The SL400, is hands down the best convertible I have ever driven. It is remarkably quiet inside with top down compared to any other convertible I have owned, and I have had several over the years.

My wife wouldn't dare ask if that was me. She refuses to even drive my cars when I ask if she wants to because she doesn't want to risk damaging it. Good call lol.

My wife drove the stinger 2 days while the grand cherokee was in for service. She told me afterwards she wasn't paying attention and realized she was doing 90mph in a 50. Luckily she slowed down on her own. Next time I will be nice and get her a rental....
The Stinger has this easily accessed midrange power that seems to encourage speeding. A little goose at 40 and you hit 80 before you know what is happening. Carol is taking the Stinger to the Chumash Casino this morning. The road out of Santa Barbara is a wonderful drive up into the mountains and the straight aways are ideal for letting go and driving way to fast. Hopefully she will take it easy. She got stopped once before for exceeding the limit on this road in her old E350.
