Hi all,

I am new to the forum and do not have a Stinger . I ordered a new Stinger from Kia Bayside in February and they still can’t give me an ETA. So I have two questions:
1. Has anyone bought a Stinger recently and can speak to the wait experienced or knows something about manufacturing delays
2. Is it worth waiting for the new MY21 or should I buy a second hand MY19. I will save around $9000, lose two year warranty but I will be driving a Stinger (only a dream at the moment)
Thanks for the help team,
Michael

Welcome to the hive! Long wait times seem to be pretty common, but I would have thought that you would have a date at this point. Hopefully one of our Australian members has better info

Howdy and welcome. Aussies have to wait months; this was true back in 2017 too.

It's a long wait but is is worth it to have a shiny new one.

You could buy a MY19 and sell it when the new one arrives, buy and sell privately and it won't cost two much.

I do want a new one but damn the wait is hard. Good call, if I can find a deal on a MY19 I might not lose anything. Thanks Greg!

Thanks Red. Hopefully I will be a legit member soon!

Hi Michael,
I'm in a similar situation - ordered in January and still don't have an ETA. I have seen two of the current model driving around in the last nine months, and am hoping whatever bottleneck is restricting supply gets resolved soon.

The problem with buying second hand at the moment is that the prices are way higher than normal. Personally I would wait for the new one. Got mine in 2019 after waiting 4 months. Nowhere as long as you I see. Welcome to the forum.

Wait for the new one.

Nothing beats that new car smell!

I think I will wait for the new one. Thanks team. Appreciate the advise. Can’t wait to own one!

I just wish Kia would give some indication of the manufacturing status. If you call Kia customer service they can check the order status. I have been told that once it is “scheduled” it will be about three months till you have it. Mine is not scheduled yet :(

I am in Northern NSW, we ordered ours in dec and it arrived mid august (though with lockdowns we only got it last saterday). we had very little updates and last we heard in the first week of july was that it wasnt even built yet (8 months after order) a month later it was here

Yep WRX, I agree with the first world problems sentiment, plenty of people worse off than me.

And thanks Dory, that's good to know. Like OP said, it is bizarre that after all this time they still can't give a production no., but surely after all this time it's gotta be any day now...

Ordered my G in early Sept, got it in mid Dec. This was back in 2011. How times have changed :alien:.

I too had the option of used vs new. In the end I leased a new one which i will be buying out cause it cost me the same amount of money to buy a 2018 with 40k miles on it. I'm sure how bad it is over there but here in the U.S we have some on the lots that are waiting to be sold im not sure why you wouldnt have them too. Also cant beat the fact that no one else has tampered or messed up a new car vs a used one.

This is good news. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I will sit tight with my FWP and post when I finally have one. Cheers
