I had the dealer swap my airbag assembly today and had it replaced with the E badge assembly from Kia S.Korea.

Quick install, no issues.

What crazy amount of cash did that cost? A Canadian airbag (same part different logo) is about $1200

This is the E I didn't replace, and I don't wanna put a sticker on top so this part still says Kia. I'm cool with that, although your new steering wheel looks so awesome I'd love to swap mine out too. It doesn't seem worth the cost for me, though. But it looks great!

You can buy the airbag on eBay here:

I'd guess an hour of labour to do the swap. So i'd estimate this would cost $550 or so for the airbag and install at the Dealer.

It's easy to DIY. I've done it on my Audi's and you disconnect the negative battery terminal, then remove the airbag. There are removal DIY's on this forum.

What scares me about this is that the airbag you're sourcing could be unreliable. It looks like this one is OE from Korea but you never know.

This is what scares me too. Not only that, but there are liability issues. Even if the part is good, if you're in an accident and the airbag doesn't go off properly and you're injured, as soon as they see a DIY project the liability falls on you.

I agree. For me, the risk and the $500 to have a different badge just don't equate here. When I did this on my Audi's I was swapping out the whole steering wheel for a more modern/sporty version and the cost was only slightly more than this.

Airbag cost me $320, labour was $60.
