hey everyone I was parking my car and as I was backing into a spot my car’s steering wheel just locked up on me and started throwing a bunch of error codes on me saying: check Blink Spot system, Check Lane Depatrue, check high beam assist and check attention warning. I have tried turning the car off walking away for 15-20 minutes with no luck. I turn the car on and immediately get the same errors, meanwhile whether the car is on or off the steering wheel won’t move.

This happen to anyone else?

Not had this happen, but I would pull the codes (write them down) and clear them. See if the issue returns. I carry a small bluetooth obd2 in the trunk and torq app on my phone for situations exactly like this.

If you don't have anything to check codes, try disconnecting the battery for a bit to see if whatever module is puking resets.

The fact there's codes/errors is concerning, the steering wheel locking isn't as much.

Yeah I need to get that and keep it in the car, but I was stuck in a parking lot. Did try disconnecting the battery and waited 15 minutes but no luck. Luckily I was only 2.5 miles to my normal dealership so I got the car towed there. They set me up with a loaner, but they have only 1 certified technician so they have no timetable

Took a screen shot of the codes the UVO app was providing

Since power resetting the system didn't resolve it, guessing speed sensor or power steering controller module failure (without looking at the codes).

Did you google the codes? It's always good to know in case the dealer tries to pull a fast one. "It was the hydraulic pressure release valve for your windshield washer reservoir".

From what I found it may have to do with an issue regarding the MDPS ECU. The dealership is short staffed and current only have one certified tech, so he wasn’t able to get to my car today. They did call and say my car will be the first one checked out tomorrow so we will finger crossed

Same thing just happened to me last week. Was told they have to replace the steering column due to the torque sensor fail. Sucks since I have only had the car for about 1.5 months. Waiting a week so far. they told me the only parts they could find are in Atlanta and only one column left. I am just hoping that this is not the start of something because the car itself is great.

No man.

His aftermarket exhaust is at fault.

Not covered under warranty you silly wabbit.

The toxic fumes corroded the intercoupler to the proto-arterial centrifugal linkage? Seems a bit of a stretch...

The one I personally know of locally (I've shared horror story before) is the guy who installed his own air intakes, and Kia Corp. blamed the complete engine failure (stopped instantly on the highway, never to restart) on the fact that he had installed his own intakes. Warranty denied.

The tech said it’s was a faulty electrical steering mount, only place that hard the parts they needed were in California. All in all I had a loaner for about 1-2 weeks and everything was fixed under warranty

Parts came in at the end of December. Once the steering column was replaced, the errors went away but the steering wheel still had the same issue of not turning. So back to square one. Fortunately the warranty covers it but it is a real let down since I took it in on Dec 16th and still no stinger for me.

Sooo sad.
