Start Kia's With a USB Cord?

Unfortunately a majority of the morons that tok tik do not have the mental ability or intelligence to discern between a push button start Kia and a key required Kia..so in my mind no Kia is safe. So I am sure there are push button start Kia's out there that have had attempted break ins and related damage just because of the Kia badge.

I am stressing because I have to go to Milwaukee WI this Friday and rent a UHAUL to move my adult recently graduated from college son to a new crib. Trying to work out a deal with UHAUL to park my baby in one of their storage units for the duration of my four hour rental. The fear is real for me and it is a sad state our society is in...social media....the destruction of society as it was known years ago. Off my soapbox now...post is strictly IMO.
I'm pretty sure they can tell the difference. But I get what you're saying.

Good time for a badge swap? I run the newer style overlay on the front which doesn't stick out as much as the old stock one did. Maybe the "E" badge would confuse them enough? Hell, even with the new style Kia overlay most people either don't know what my car is or haven't heard of it.

I was actually thinking badge delete on the hood...I have a 2022 GT2 so it has the new badge...where I live no real concerns about thievery...nobody has no clue what a Stinger is. Going to a gas station in this area can take some time due to questions as to what kinda car is that. So the more I can confuse the drive by rubber neckers trying to determine what car they just past by trying to get a glimpse of the not known to many new KIA badge on the hood...the better!

Just stick a Ford emblem on it. That'll scare 'em off. They want to get away from the cops, not ask them for a push.

Will this news with our cars cause insurance costs to rise? I know that my insurance company had Dodge Challengers and Chargers at double the rate of new Camaro and Mustangs because of their theft rates.

Insurance companies are pretty keen to this sort of thing. You'd already be paying for it.

I had heard about 2 months ago one of the insurance adjusters came down to look at a car, a Hyundai that had been stolen like this. The way he was talking, he was trying to make it seem like all these owners are out there trying to defraud the insurance company.

Until one of my coworkers schooled him on just how large a problem it is. No way people are buying brand new Kias/Hyundai's, smashing out the rear passenger side windows and ripping out the column, just to jack their own cars and dump them someplace. Like do you realize how stupid that sounds? Maybe if it was an older Kia I could potentially see that but these are brand new cars. What sense does that even make to do?

Freaking insurance guys, I absolutely hate everything about insurance but you gotta have it.

It's not just an "IMHO" thing, and its not just the conspiracy theory wackos either.
If you know anyone in the "intelligence community", ask them their take on the TikTok platform!

I have a front emblem delete. Sorry but this is the only pic I have currently.

This has me so scared, I sold my Stinger and bought a GV60.
What did you do with your kdm spec turn signals and light bar?

Also, this (so far) only affects cars that have actual key ignition's, not push button start.

Yeah, I was kidding. I just kept the lights on the car, did not have time to switch them out.

Yes, it was not an electronic hack or anything, just that once you remove the steering wheel trim panels, the back side of the switch for the ignition is the same physical dimensions as a type A USB plug, so you could use one to turn the ignition switch. You could probably find other mechanical devices with similar dimensions that would do the same thing.
That is why the push button vehicles aren't subject to this particular mode of intrusion.
