TLDR: I can't find an answer in any threads... What size tires can I run on a 20" square setup on an AWD, if the rims have a +40 offset and are either 8" or 8.5" wide?

I ask for both widths b/c I just bought the car used this past weekend, with these rims already on it...and it's been too cold to go out and take them off and find out which is correct.
The current tires are 245/35, but I feel like they're a little undersized.

Can I go upto 245/40, or can I go out to a 255/35?

I actually don't like the rims that are on it for one, and two, the ride is killing me with a vibration.
It's the same feel as if you had a single back window open...and the speed in which it happens is inconsistent.
The car has already been re-aligned and the tires rebalanced, but no dice.
I have some hub rings coming, so that's going to be my last attempt to fix it before changing tires.

If I try for new tires, I was thinking about getting some winter ones...and then get a new/better/staggered setup after the upcoming pothole season.

Long story short on why I made this thread... TIA!

245/35 is already about inch bigger in diameter than stock! If I had 20 inch wheels, I would not go bigger than 245/30, which would result in pretty bad ride quality. That's why I think 20 inch wheels are just too big for stinger imho.

If I had 20" wheels... I would buy 18" tires and 18" wheels.

And sell the 20" wheels. ;)

I had a square 20x8.5 +40 and ran 255/35/20 on my stinger and now have 20x9/10 staggered setup again with 255/35/20 all around and i’ve never had any issues, rides great and I’m currently lowered on eibach springs

Thanks.
Curious...why stagger if you kept the same sized tires?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Because the 255/35 is good from 8.5-10 as far as I remember correctly. I liked the amount of sidewall i had as well as filling in some more fender gap. It also allowed me to buy four of the same size tire every time if i so choose.
