I think my brakes might be misbehaving on my GT2. I have two issues:

  1. My brake lights don't come on until I press the pedal down an inch or so. Is this normal for everyone else?

  2. My brakes feel soft. I drove a rental Kia Niro a few days ago, and then a Mustang GT. In both cars I found myself braking too hard because their brakes required so much less travel. They still work well - I can engage the ABS easily - but they definitely feel spongier than I remember. If I pump the brakes it firms up for a time but then goes back to normal. Is it possible my brakes need to be bled? I haven't had any work done on them from the factory

At 15k miles, the brakes on my 2018 Stinger "Premium" have also gone spongy - having to pump the pedal once or twice to get a firm feel on braking. My local dealer has a one month backlog for the service department so I am looking for more distant Kia service departments
