Side vent mesh

I have experience in cutting :p

Dumb question - what's the easiest way to insert the mesh? Does the lining need to be unscrewed at all?

No lining removal at all, just put your wheels in full lock for easy access, then use a wide flat screwdriver or similar, just lift the side edge up a feed mesh in, once done repeat process all the way around, if you have cut it to the correct size it will sit under the lining in the recess.

+1 on cutting the wheels for each side. But I really struggled to slip the mesh in without cutting my hand. Removing the screw and fasteners and pulling up the lining was dead simple. The hardest part was keeping the mesh aligned while re-securing the lining. Also, I recommend using a shop vac to clean out the vent before installing the mesh. You might be surprised as the grit and gravel in there.

Mate I bled like a stuck pig fitting them....lol & yes I agree ensure the vents are clean & clear of gravel or debris before installing the mesh.

I wrapped the outer edges of my vent mesh with tape (used electrical tape) just to keep from scratching myself or the car up. As noted, just need to use a screwdriver or similar to push the edges in for the ones that don't go in as easily.

What's a good source for this 316 mesh these days? Lots and lots of winter salt around here.

Offcuts or sample from security/screen door manufacturer.

I tried reaching out to a number of window/door places locally. They all use the cheaper aluminum/fiberglash mesh, no 316 SS. Wasn't worth my time to try to search any further.

Mcmaster carr isn't too far away, just the other side of the airport actually.

This is what I got.

This is the good stuff, 316 SS

Packaged in square foot sheets wrapped in cardboard. One sheet is enough for 2 1/2 cars. It's odd the passenger side hole is smaller. Can't imagine brakes on that side generating any less heat. Installed both sides followed by the front splash guards. Would of been easier with the wheels removed but manageable with them in place.

No cuts or bleeds. I undid 3 or 4 clips in the vicinity so the whole liner could be pulled away from the car (towards the wheel). Cut the mesh to a rectangle. Looks to wedged in there well. We'll see after a few drives if it shifts or not.

Hello Friends!! I'm just leaving this all here as I just installed this on my 22 Scorpion I just bought to keep gravel from getting lodged or damaging paint upon exit. Everyone in this tread was very useful to me when I was getting ready to do this so I'm returning the favor in hopes it may help someone else out! <3 Now do keep in mind that the vents have different sizes so you can't cookie cut and flip the mesh around. Each side is a different project! Thank you all again soo much!

Just wanted to say thanks for the info - this post and the template shared to cut out was helpful and quite an easy/cheap add-on :)
