Anyone else finding things collecting in their side vents ? I looked the other day and it looks like there's small stuff like gum balls, and other stuff that gets kicked or blown up into them.

There are a few threads about using fine wire mesh to cover the inner wheel well opening.

Even a template for cutting.

Yep, put some mesh over them. A pressure washer will remove the stuff you noted above.

Lately my front and side vents are getting clogged with this white stuff.

Have a look at these 2 threads, Brake Vent Fix & Side Vent Mesh.

I never bothered with the screen mesh. Several times a winter I will go to the hand wand car wash and point that wand directly at the hole behind the wheel: gravel and whatever it is, gone, in a jet of spray out the back end of those vents.

Agree about not bothering with the mesh. 99% of the time there's really nothing a blast of water from the garden hose won't remove unless water pressure sucks. It's probably one less thing to clean as well since crap can also get stuck on the mesh.

I've been meaning to do this. Useful in my area as there will most definitely be build up of leaves, debris, etc. Maybe I'm angling the pressure wand incorrectly but I can't seem to 100% get all of it out with a wash.

I did this yesterday. Unless the debris is jammed in there, I don't see how the pressure wand cannot force all of it out. I push the schnozzle right into the hole and angle it up and down and side to side.

the mesh protects road debris from hitting the sides of the car as well , its a good thing to do !

You don’t need to. They’re held in place by friction with the liner. Remove the Phillips screw and pop clip then pull the fender liner towards the front bumper to create a gap. You’ll see you can tuck it in there, push the fender liner back and reinstall the screw and pop clip. I rattle canned mine black so you don’t even know they’re there.

FWIW, i used plastic mesh on mine. i could see the metal mesh just getting corroded and rusty from all the tire spray ...

That's easy enough. Thanks.

I used stainless steel mesh.

SS will still rust and corrode. not as easily as regular steel, but still ...

True & depending on the grade & what elements it is exposed to the level of corrosion will differ.
I've had my SS mesh in since 2018 & they still look as good as when I fitted them.
In the end they are for function & not show, you don’t actually see them but at least they will be more robust the plastic.

the size of the plastic mesh cutout gives it a rigidity that i don't think will ever be able to be broken by road debris ... unless you remove the wheel and hit it with an axe ... but that goes for SS, too.
