• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

How frequently do you guys service your vehicles? Mine is just over a year old, and when I got it in June last year the dealership called me asking me to come in for a service in December. 6 months later. For a brand new car.

I politely told them to do one, and had my service this June. Come to find out they've set the next service time to this December/13000km (whichever comes first, I'm guessing). I'm about to hit 13000km and I'm considering resetting it to next June and I was wondering how frequently other Canadian owners service their Stingers, assuming it's a daily driver and not parked up for winter.

I did check the manual and it has the intervals for Severe Driving Conditions, which I suppose our winters are.

What year is your Stinger? The 2020 models call for oil changes every 5,000km in the owners manual under severe service.

It’s a point of contention among some owners with the short service intervals, but to me, it doesn’t hurt to do it more often. My dealer would set it at every 6,000km. I personally think 6-8K is a good interval, don’t go too long since these are direct injection, high performance engines that wear the oil faster

I did an experiment last winter where I ran 0W30 synthetic all winter and 11K. I had the oil analyses and while good, there was a lot of fuel dilution, which tells me the engines like to run rich in winter, meaning I do recommend every 6-8K especially in winter

It's a MY2019. I'm mainly reluctant to do it because the dealership set the interval, and because they already tried it last year I'm inclined to believe it's just what they do for all the vehicles they service, as opposed to a particular requirement for Stingers.

More frequent services is more money for them, and of course that's when they'll find all these other non-warranty things that need to be fixed.

I realize this is more Canada specific question but it is interesting how different dealers choose different intervals.. at my specific dealer here in the states , scheduled next service every 6,000 miles, or 9,656km but I am choosing to do it at 4,000 miles 6,437km since we do many shorter trips and am heavy footed on every stoplight ... lol

Does your dealer recommend standard 5W-30 or a full synthetic? I was surprised to learn that the recommended oil for the car is standard oil.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The 5,000-6,000km interval pertains to standard oil, but you can always upgrade to synthetic, but they will say that even if you use synthetic, they’d still recommend changing at the same intervals as standard oil.

What you can do is use synthetic in winter only for better flow when cold, then go back to standard oil in the coming months (it’s ok to switch in between).

Our dealer said i could bring whatever oil i wanted to as long as it meets specs.. i was going to go liqui moly, (what i currently use on our bmw's) but decided on doing the short intervals at whatever the dealer was going to use which is a total quartz synthetic blend for now since it is super affordable.

Just follow the recommended schedule by mileage/kilometers in your owners manual, and get regular oil changes and tire rotations, every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. I’ve done that on my 2020 GT1 and have had zero issues.

Service intervals for most Kias in Australia is 15,000 kms

For the Stinger however they bring that back to 10,000kms (6000 miles).

I bought mine new at the end of last summer, and got the same calls and emails at the 6 month point. I ignored them.
It's a garage queen and not my daily driver, so I waited until this summer for the first oil change. It's only at 3,000 kms right now.

Do mine every 6000km with Quaker State Full Synthetic. Non synthetic will never enter my car. I also run a can of CRC GDI Valve/Turbo cleaner through a vacuum line before going in the day of. Its a GDI after all.

I don't think non-synthetic is even an option, check the owner's manual for the oil specs. I don't think even a blend is covered under warranty, should warranty service be needed. The turbos use the engine oil and they get insanely hot, requiring full synthetic to protect things properly.
