Seat lining is a pressure point / long drive discomfort

Hey everyone,

Just finished a long road trip about 8-9 hours total over 2 days. I have to say, while my initial long drive to get the Kia home was comfortable, on this drive I dealt with some real discomfort in my seat. First, I noticed an immediate pressure point when sitting on the seam meeting my bone. Scooting back usually I could get in a better position, but then I notice over a long while I get sore towards the back, so I end up needing to fidget around and try to shift pressure points. I've adjusted the seat many different ways, and while being more upright seems to help, I always end up playing with those seat setting to find something that is the perfect fix.

Do these issues sound like something just requires breaking in? Have people noticed their seat cushion getting softer over time? Should I have it lean back or upright? I know it's a sports car so it'll be stiffer, but it's also a GT style car so also made for a comfortable ride experience as well.
 
I've also felt a little bit of discomfort after an hour or so. I imagine the seat will break in over time, and your body may need time to adjust (kind of like a new mattress). These seat cushions and leather could be a bit more flexible though... One thing that may have helped me so far was using the thigh extension adjustment and elevating the front edge of the seat to support as much of my legs as possible.
 
I took a 8 hour drive less than two weeks after I got my GTS....when I was done, I felt like I hadn't even been in a car. So comfy. The GT2, was even more comfy.

Lumbar support is a possible fix. And you can always line your seat with an aftermarket pad. "One size does not suit all", surely applies to car seats.

Thigh support: not for me. I have my seat bottom tilted as far forward/down as possible, to take the pressure off my upper legs. Improves circulation.

It's not going to improve circulation if your ass is holding all the weight. Your seat should always support your legs, but without putting pressure underneath the thigh behind the knee (adjusted too high, or in the example of an office chair, sitting too high off the ground).

No issues here.. 8+ Hour drive home from picking it up in Indiana, a couple of 4hr each-way day trips, a multi-day trip to the mountains where driving most of the day was the goal.

I don't know if I'd say my Stinger is the most comfortable car I've owned, but I can't think of many that stood out as being more comfortable (a Jaguar we had comes to mind.) It's as or perhaps more comfortable than my top of the line Sorento, which has been broken in over 65,000 miles. I still own it, so I switch back and forth.

That said, if you're uncomfortable and unable to find a position to suit you, then nobody else's experience is going to make it better.

Now that I think about it, I bought a seat cushion for my Sorento at some point. We would frequently take long road trips to support my daughters equestrian habit, so I obviously didn't find it super comfortable for those trips. I also carried it on airplanes.. I hate those firm seats for long flights.
 
I’ve done a few 8 hour drives and been perfectly comfortable every time. Mind you I’m sporting a fair bit of personal padding to augment the Stinger’s so that probably helps. :)

Clearly, this is an example of two bodies each telling the other about differences, not recommendations. I find a seat that holds up my legs to be tiring. A seat that is below my legs, with my feet on the floor, works out better for reducing pressure and fatigue. Probably all those years of riding a firm bicycle seat have "rerouted" my circulation away from my butt. :P
 
I purchased the GT2, as the Nappa leather seats felt much softer, and the multi-adjustment ability of the driver's seat (front thigh extender, lumbar extension & up/down, and bolster tightness). Have driven multiple 12-hr trips throughout the 7 western states, mostly on twisty roads. If hips or back begin to ache, adjust seats slightly to transfer weight differently!

I did the "home position" routine. Then clicked on "Driver 1" (me), and felt my setting differences from what I had just set up. Not a huge variation.

I redid the "home position" routine, then set that as my "Driver 1" settings. The mirrors didn't require any repositioning. We'll see if I feel more comfy than before. Who wouldn't want to try for even more comfy?"
 
I drive a 2021 Stinger GT. My seat is very uncomfortable after about 2.5 hours. I have tried all different positions to get more comfortable. I'm always better for a while, but constantly readjusting after a time. I replaced my 2011 Optima Turbo (that i loved!) with the '21 Stinger, knowing that it's sportier and won't be as comfortable for the many miles I spend on the road (i travel every other week). But I wasnt prepared for this. I was also traveling 13 hours one way (and then back again a week later) every 6 or so weeks for family obligations. I've had to STOP driving because my bum and back were SOOO miserable. Now I fly, which is a drag because I like to drive. I found this page because I was looking to see if KIA sells an aftermarket Stinger seat for more comfort. It's looking like not. Dang.
 
At max length, how much longer is the thigh extension compared to see that doesn't have it?
