We took 1RADKIA on a Grand Tour (yes it’s an awesome GT car!) over the weekend and finally made it past the 5,000 mile mark on the odometer. A few notes from our adventure.
* One new serious chip added to the hood, 3 more minors to the front end and a rock pit to the front windshield. I understand some paint damage can be expected with use, but I’m getting concerned this paint work is no better than what I had on my Elantra. It’s beautiful to look at, but not as deep as I had hoped. 2 layers of ceramic coating to the paint may not have helped and I might have done better applying a plastic clear bra. Still on the fence on what’s best to keep this paint in tip top shape and ON THE CAR.
* The car was/is a conversation starter. Every restaurant... hotel... wherever, someone had a “thumbs up” or had to walk around the car and try to figure out what it was. I thought folks would just read the license plate, but most missed that all together. Either way, own a Stinger - be ready to talk about it. One person at a gas station was shooting video as we drove by.
* The car cruises very smoothly at 80mph. Quiet and comfortable the entire trip. I averaged ~26 mpg and sometimes saw as much as 30mpg. I ran in “eco’ mode for the entire trip. It’s also very quick to hit the triple digits (100mph+) passing! No problem getting around cars and trucks.
* It’s still a rarity to see other Stingers anywhere. Four days out.... lots of miles traveled... and we saw zero! What a shame!
PS. 2 trip pics added to my profile should you care to have a look
