Hey everyone,

Was wondering if anyone had a similar thing happen to them. i have a 2022 stinger gt line, was backing out of my driveway this morning, as soon as i cleared the incline and got on level ground i stepped on the accelerator to back up a bit more but all that did was rev my engine. I wasn't in neutral. my car was in reverse. I changed it to drive went forward a little then put it back into reverse and it was fine then. Just want to know if that is something i should worry about if any of you have experienced this.

Nope. Never heard of that one. Electrics, oh joy. I would be annoyed for sure. If it isn't repeated or continuous, and nothing else manifests to point to trans problems, I would just tuck this one in the back of my mind "until the next time". Sort of like how I deal with our Premium not starting, until it "decides" to start. Happened three times in over half a year and I had the starting system reset/reflashed. No repeats in over a year. If you notice this weirdness happening frequently enough to worry/annoy you, take it in and they will diagnose and slap one or more computer modules around. Hopefully that's all.

Does the GT-Line have the T-Shifter?

Pray for a glitch, because this could be a sign of imminent failure (ie transmission slip)

I think the gt-line isnt electronic shifter, its linkage I think.
It probably wasnt all the way in reverse.

The 2022 GT Line is the top of the range 4cyl so it would have the electronic shift same as the 6 cyl GT

Though there is only Drive, Neutral and Reverse, the shifter actually has four positions....there is no Park position as that is set with a button.

Depending on how the shifter is used, position 2 can be either Drive or Neutral whilst position 3 can be either Reverse or Neutral.

Position 2 and 3 however cannot be both neutral at the same time. If position 2 is Drive position 3 will be neutral. If position 3 is Reverse position 2 will be neutral.

Depending on whether the vehicle was in Position 2 (Drive) or Position 3 (Reverse) when it was switched off will determine where neutral is when you turn it back on.

Scenario 1
If vehicle was in Position 2 (Drive) when switched off. On starting......
Pull shifter back to Spring position 1 to select Drive. Selector returns to Position 2. Car is now in Drive. Push shifter to position 3. Car is now in Neutral. Push shifter to Spring position 4 (Reverse). Selector returns to position 3. Car is now in Reverse. Neutral will now be position 2.
If vehicle was in Position 2 (Drive) when switched off. On starting......
If you want to go straight to reverse, push the shifter forward to position 3. Car is now in Reverse. There is no need to go to Spring Position 4 to select reverse.

Scenario 2
If vehicle was in Position 3 (Reverse) when switched off. On starting.....
Push shifter to Spring Position 4 to select Reverse. Selector returns to position 3. Car is now in Reverse. Pull shifter back to position 2. Car is now in neutral. Pull shifter back to Spring Position 1 (Drive). Selector returns to Position 2. Car is now in Drive. Neutral will now be in position 3.
If vehicle was in Position 3 (Reverse) when switched off. On starting......
If you want to go straight to Drive, pull the shifter back to position 2. Car is now in Drive. There is no need to go to Spring Position 1 to select Drive.

Scenario 3
Car is running and in neutral in position 2. Push shifter to position 3. Car is now in reverse. No need to go to spring position 4 to select reverse

Scenario 4.
Car is running and already in neutral in position 3. Pull shifter back to position 2. Car is now in Drive. No need to go to spring position 1 to select Drive.

So depending whether you select Drive first or Reverse first will determine if neutral is now in position 2 or position 3.

To confuse this even more as I was working this out, the vehicle does not like to be turned off whilst in Neutral. A warning appears telling you to restart the vehicle.

I dare suggest that to the original poster the selector at some point was in Neutral...I have done this myself.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I test drove a '22 GT-Line and it had the "T" shifter. The only trim throughout the Stinger's life that has "shift by wire" is the top trim, the GT2 in the US, "Limited" in Canada, and the only trim in Aus. Do I have that right? Did you guys ever have the "T" shifter?

The top trim in Australia is
GT- Six cylinder 3.3 TT
GT- Line four cylinder 2.0L Single turbo

The base trim in Australia is
330S - Six Cylinder 3.3 TT (typically used by Police in some states)
200S - Four Cylinder 2.0L single turbo

All are shift by wire

I don't know what earlier year there was a T shifter but 2022 had shift by wire all models

Most LIKELY the cars blind spot warning activated and applied the parking brake that wouldn't allow you to move no way to turn it off I find it quite annoying happens to me occasionally backing out the driveway with cross traffic
I have to hit the ebreak a couple times so it'll release and I can keep moving
