Concerned about electronics and such freaking out when old battery is disconnected. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

What do you think is going to happen? Disconnecting the battery is an inevitable event. Nothing happens except your settings are lost. Disconnecting the battery is a way try and reset glitchy electronics. Usually doesn't fix whatever is buggy though.

Well...too much YouTube viewing on the subject makes a man a bit freaked out. - thanks for clearing my head sir.

Thankfully the Stinger is not as fancy as something like a VW, which requires a "battery reprogram" if you swap your battery, and is supposed to have an ODB backup power supply connected when removing/swapping the battery...

That's what was freaking me out - last thing I wanted to do is have to go to a Kia Stealership after changing the battery out and have them touch my Stinger - as sad as that is.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Nope, nothing special. Just keep in mind if you have power lift gate that it's a real annoyance if that thing is shut and the power is dead.

I do and when the new battery is installed with lift gate open press close button and button over the license plate simultaneously for 3 seconds wait for beep and close manually. Then hit the button in the car and lift gate should open.

Battery swap done and weirdly did not lose any presets

No loss to any other vehicle settings (like lane departure disabled, and other nannies like that)?

Nada - most nannies off anyway

My previous car (G6) would lose connectivity with the BCM if the battery was disconnected/died for more than about 2-3 minutes--which would kill the use of the key fobs and anything that communicated through the BCM. Shitty design by any standards and the engineering manager who signed off on that design flaw should be locked in a chemical toilet over a holiday weekend and have panpipe music pumped in to contemplate their sins.

The fix was taking it into the stealership and them using their tools to make the BCM talk to the car again. This was before things like the Xtool so it sucked like Pamela Anderson at a Motel 6.

I had the same concerns as well. @ScorpionStinger : The Stinger doesn't have that issue that I know of. I had my battery disconnected throughout an oil change as well as removing the bumper to put in the snorkels and change out the horns awhile back--took over a half hour and nothing was messed up.

For some reason, the only setting that gets reset for me is the F -> C temp units, of all things

And you can't change it while driving, have to remember to change it back to C when I get in or when I park. So weird.

EDIT: Oh yeah and the lift gate thing.

My lift gate is manual ;).

Haven't actually tried it, but I'm pretty sure the rear hatch release button is just an electric pressure switch that then triggers a solenoid actuator that pulls on the mechanical latch. That means, without battery power, pushing the button wouldn't do anything.

The rear hatch if it's powered will go to the factory settings for the open position.
You have to reset the open position height, if its changed from fully open.
